I tried a EV for a DD, and I just can't deal with it anymore. I also need a truck so i'm going to trade it in for a used Tundra

I'm primarily looking at 19-21 2nd Gens to get the 5.7, but does anyone have a 3rd Gen with the TT V6? Can we expect typical Toyota longevity with it?

You might get better info from Tundra forum, but..

I have very little experience with Tundra.
    1) I didn't like the 26gal fuel tank. I was seeing gas station pretty often with daily driven to work that time. (Why I don't like Lexus GX with 23gal tank as well.) I bet Tundras with 38 gal tank would be more practical.
    2) The rear tires loose grip pretty quickly when wet compared to something like a 4Runner where back tires have more weight.
    3) Tundra was extremely tight fit in my garage. Practically can't close the garage door.
    4) When driving relatively fast offroad captured a slow-mo video clip, the bending of the frame between the bed and cab did not give a comfortable feeling.

I would absolutely not buy 3rd gen Tundra especially after seen pathetic reliability. I would do the same for LX600, GX550, Sequoia. I would highly doubt they will have reliability as 4.7V8 or 5.7V8.

Toyota has recalled nearly all of the 3G Tundras to get a new long block (entire motor and turbos) because they’re eating main bearings. Until that’s sorted out, I’d personally steer clear of the 3.4 turbo and look for a 5.7. You’ll see the prices of the 2022 and 2023 Tundras are generally the same or less than the 2020-2021 Tundras. The market for a $50K plus truck that’s going to be disassembled and reassembled (cab and every connector/hose/etc comes off) in a dealer service bay is small IMO.

The cause of the V6 TT issue has already been noted. Getting all them all replaced in a timely fashion is another issue.

    5.7L is solid. I've had a 2010 and 2019 0 issues.

Besides shit MPG but who cares. You don't buy a full size truck for MPG.

Howdy! I had a '21 Tundra (SR5) and just traded it in for a '23 4runner (just had a baby). Loved the damn thing but didnt need it anymore. Anyhow, about 4 months ago myself ('21 SR5), cousin ('15 tacoma) and brother ('24 tundra trd) went on a baja roadtrip from San Diego all the way down to Cabo San Lucas. We stopped all along the way to Cabo, messed around in the sand with our 4X4 until making our way to Cabo. It was about 19 hours non-stop on our way back. My brothers truck has not been right since then. It's been at the dealer for a bad transmission 2 times now. First time he got it back, it was still making a horrible grinding noise at times and no power. This time they've had the truck at the dealership for about 6 weeks and they don't really update him. Maybe just a lemon and his bad luck but not this first time I've heard this from a TTV6 Tundra owner.
Those V8 engine may be dinosaurs, but theres a reasons they never changed them. It's a shame..

2019-2021 tundra are worth a pretty penny right now. But its probably the most reliable full size truck ever made.

The second gen tundra had issues and stumbled when it first came out and People tried to say it was junk Toyota corrected it and now fan boys act like it’s the best ever made.

The third gen stumbled very bad and Toyota is replacing almost all their engines. People are still on the it’s garbage cycle. We don’t know what people will think of it 10 years from now but we do know now is the time to get a really good deal just like it was when the second gen was only a few years old.

I purchased a second gen when everyone was complaining and saying they were junk because it made them very cheap and I realized Toyota would correct the issues if I had any

2.5 Gens are solid. Stay away from the 3rd gen. I had a 2013 with the 4.6 and sold it to buy a 2020 5.7.

2017 tundra limited 4x4, crewmax 5.7. Love it. Had to do a water pump ~70k, but that’s pretty common. Plan to keep it until it dies, or someone offers an insane amount of money!
