I'm planning to purchase a TRD Off-Road, and I'd like to replace the stock silver bumper valances with black valances. Do any of you know if the valances linked below (*****************.com), are ready for install as-is, or do they require paint? Thanks for any help!

sucks we can't view links from toyota sites anymore.
Black version is a direct replacement no prep or paint needed.

Excellent, that's what I was hoping! Makes for a pretty economical mod to get rid of the silver valances, and looks like a relatively easy diy job. The only other cosmetic changes I was thinking about are the blackout emblem kit, and Pro-style grill with "Toyota" emblem instead of sombrero.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Sounds like Toyota links aren't allowed, I didn't know that.

Toyota is probably dropping the hammer on forums using the Toyota name.

I guess it all depends on your definition of 'economical'. Almost $400 (from Toyota) for a couple of pieces of black plastic don't exactly fit my definition. YMMV

Good point, NOT cheap for plastic!

If I end up going with a silver ORP ... I just might stick with the silver valances. Just not a fan with other color options. And always fun to customize a bit.

It's not a huge job painting or bedlining the valances vs buying them black. If I was wanting black, that's the route I would go.

I guess I am in the minority when it comes to leaving the silver and chrome I have on my MGM Off Road - to me, with the MGM, the oem off road wheels, the chrome grille emblems, the silver lettering on the c-pillar & rear hatch, along with the silver valances, seem just the right amount of silver/chrome to offset & complement the MGM color perfectly. It just seems balanced. I have no personal desire for the blacked-out look. Just me.

I agree 100% for darker colors. I plan to go with silver or white (for ease of maintaining) ... and for lighter colors I love black accents. But not fully blacked out.

I bought them and took them to a body shop - was told they needed to be painted before installation. So I just returned them and had the original silver valences painted black - looks amazing.

It's not a matter of removal for me, but having them properly painted. I'm not a fan of plastidip - i wanted them painted professionally so I can get a lifetime out of them. To each their own tho.

I do agree with the others saying to paint the silver ones. With a little prep work and a good product, it should hold up and look good for years. I got a black front valance for very cheap, which I have since given away. Now I have the silver valence in my garage still.

Edit: or, keep your eyes open in the classifieds for take-offs.

Hmm, I've been told by some the black valances do NOT require paint, but yours did ... did you purchase the Toyota Part Numbers listed in my original post? Thx

I assumed these plastic trim pieces would simply be raw plastic, not painted ... even on stock 4Runners. Looks like I'm wrong.

I do like the look of the silver valances with darker colored 4Runners, just not a big fan of cleaning maintenance with darker paint colors ... although they do look great when clean!

Yes, I ordered original Toyota parts from a local dealership. I took them to several body shops and all agreed that they should be painted before installation. Also AND MORE IMPORTANTLY the black on the valence (as it came from the parts shop) doesn't match the heritage grill - if you have a heritage grill, the blacks aren't very close - it looks wonky IMO. With all that in mind, I figured I would just paint the ones that were already on the 4Runner and get them as close as possible to the heritage grill.
Personally, I HATE silver/chrome. Give me black on black all day!

See below for before/after on front and back. The body shop did a really good job matching the black on the Heritage Grill as well.
