Brush gaurds

Do any of yall know of a brush guard that doesnt interfere with the sensors ?

 

Not a brush guard but the SSO slimline hybrid works with the TSS sensors and seems most are happy with the.

I have winch mount systems in stock here that will not interfere with the sensors at all, also our full bumper replacements will not either!

I've had my eye on this one. Unlike the SSO style steel bumper, I wouldn't have to cut into the body to mount it. It bolts right on and gives more coverage.

It'll probably do more harm then help.

 

All brush guards and steel bumpers are commonly known as "Force multipliers"...when you hit something at a high rate of speed. They only protect you from damage when you hit something at 20MPH or less.

If someone backs into your front bumper while you're parked at the grocery store, the brush guard/steel slimline bumper will stop damage from being caused to your ride.

 

I wouldn’t worry about a Brush Guard being a force multiplier per se. I would think it would be too flimsy and would compound any front end damage caused by a collision.

If it’s for looks go for it, I just wouldn’t count on it for protection (except in the most mild impacts).

The one you’re looking at is pretty common for those not looking into serious steel bumpers. Nothing wrong with them. Better than bull bars.

 

I would never get a bull bar. I've always thought those make vehicles look like they have buck-teeth. I don't want to cut into my bumper to install a steel bumper (I did that on my Tacoma). I'm only considering this brush guard, I may not get it.

I had a steel bumper on my truck for 2yrs and never needed it (that I know of? Someone could have hit me and I may have never known about it).

 

Man, that thing just kills your approach angle, and you’re stuck with the factory skid plate, it would appear.

Not my cup of tea, as it doesn’t seem to address any of the issues I’ve encountered off-road. Then again, everyone uses their vehicle differently.

I already have scratched up the area below my fog lights due to not having enough clearance.

 

I can agree with both sides here, and I actually really wanted the classic brush guard years ago. As time went on and I still couldn't afford it, lol, I changed my mind like many, many things regarding 4R's.

I believe the high clearance front bumper & fender liner cut I did, with a center valance type steel bumper & winch is the best of both worlds.
Perhaps a damage multiplier in a wreck, but I don't give a ****, gives me the glorious winch - and some low speed front end strength so I can push into things here and there.

Do I have to cut my bumper some more to install the centre valance type bumpers??
I don't have any front end sensors on the '16, so I really dig a large, full height "bull bar" personally!

My current bumper situation stage 2 high clearance cut, skids temporarily removed, Alex Overland recovery points waiting in garage they will be installed to frame regardless

 

yep. Love mine and was easy to install in my garage.

 

But unfortunately not an option near term with SSO state of affairs. Good looking rig.

 

just my opinion, but I think they offer zero protection for your front end, and can make damage a lot worse even on a minor fender bender
