What are the pros and cons of owning a 4 runner over a bronco?

    Pros - Reliability
Cons - No chance to drive different loaner vehicles from dealerships when it breaks.

    Bronco-better HP/torque numbers
    4 runner- proven reliability
4 runner- no major changes in the last 10 years. Better aftermarket support

If you really want to compare, my suggestion would be to engage on the Bronco forums and see what they have to say.

4runner forums will be heavily biased towards Toyota.

I bought my first 4 runner in November. I made the decision to do so based on the overall reputation and capability of the 4 runner. I have absolutely zero regrets.

I looked hard at the Bronco. The difference in numbers did nothing to overcome the Bronco's issues with reliability and cost of ownership.

    Good eye,

I though I had noticed the user name on another type of post but couldn't recall the actual thread.

I have not seen a semi built Bronco that looks better than a semi built Runner at the mall as of yet but i am keeping an eye out.

If you want the ultimate capability, go Jeep. If you want pretty good capability plus the build quality of an old Lexus, go 4Runner. If you want to look Jeep without Jeep's second to none capability and second to none coolness, and want to deal with Ford junk, go Bronco. Here are three more facts,
    1) The Wrangler is more reliable than the Bronco. The Wrangler if not modified cheap, can be as durable as the 4Runner. Remember, Wrangler's undercarriage is kickass solid, more solid than the 4Runner's and Bronco's
    2) 4Runner and Bronco cannot be modified to become as good as the Wrangler offroad.
    3) The Bronco is slightly more capable than the 4Runner, and mods on the 4Runner will solve that problem.

So what's wrong with a Dodge? Have you ever owned a Dodge, or you have been listening to Scotty Kilmer? Dodge trucks are tough as nails.

Consider this guy too, there are some deals going on these days. Get it with the 3.6 and the 8-speed, this thing is way more durable than the stupid Bronco

Scotty Kilmer still making videos.. Where have I been... Some things never change may need to see what he is putting out there in 2024, Figured he had hung it up a few years ago.

the only reason to look else where from Toyota is if you want two doors or want a manual transmission, in which case a pentastar Wrangler is way better for the average consumer than any Bronco.

Death wobble isn't from cheap mods. Mainly just premature failure of certain part. My 2013 rubi develope death wobble at 18k miles(completely stock). Balljoints, wheel bearings and tie rod ends. I couldn't tell you which caused the wobble. Warranty replaced them all at once.

Listen, death wobble is not a Jeep thing. It happened in 80 series land cruisers, it happens in big diesel trucks, so that's something that you need to be prepared to catch before it happens. It is not a Jeep thing, it is a front solid axle thing

This. It’s not an uncommon issue with them, but generally an in warranty fix these days. I was lucky with my 18 JLR and had zero issues that I didn’t induce and remedy myself. Absolutely loved that thing, but the fam grew and it didn’t work anymore.

If you’re comparing the Bronco to a 4Runner, you’ll be disappointed with reliability. If you’re comparing the Bronco to a Wrangler, you’ll be disappointed with capability. The Bronco is a major compromise made from Ford’s parts bin.

I loved it when Matt's Banana beat the Bronco on the trail. You guys watch Matt's off-road recovery? He has got a built up Corvair with solid axles
