Broken Bump Stop - 91 4Runner

'91 4Runner 4wd - broken bump stop (see photo)

Passenger-side Bump Stop broken-off and loose inside the coil spring. Driver-side about to fall off. How is the best way to repair this?

It clearly demonstrates the problem and how this gentleman made the repair (nicely done!). I don't have a welder or yet know how to weld.

Considering as an alternative to drill a hole in the top-center of the upper coil spring mounting bracket and run a bolt all the way through the bump stop and out the top of the bracket. I have pretty good access to the area between the top of the rear coil spring housing and the underbody of the vehicle.

I want to keep this tread active as I'm sure other 2nd Gen 4Runner owners have experience the same problem, and hopefully some will share their solutions.
