Bridgestone Dueler HT

I recently traded my 2016 SR5 Premium for a 2023 TRD Off Road Premium and the OEM tires are worthy for street use. I can't believe Toyota wouldn't include decent all terrain tires on this model!

 

TRD Pro comes with 4 all terrain tires (spare is a not matching all season, LOL). But it's just marketing to make more money. I have a feeling those a/t tires on TRD Pro has a different rubber compound to keep the test drive more pleasant, probably why those Nitto Terra Grappers are not 3 peak rated vs same tire purchased at a tire shop is 3peak rated. Best thing in my books is Toyota keep the price down and give all season tires on 4runner and owners sell stock tires as soon as they purchase and put the money towards proper set of tires for your needs.

 

Thanks for your reply. I'll sell these and get appropriate tires with more aggressive tread. I had Hercules A/T tires on my SR5...made big difference for trips up the mountain to the cabin.

 

Mine came with them too, those HTs are appropriately named, they're great on the highway but not good for much else.

 

Pretty lame tires for an “Off Road”. Beautiful color of your 4Runner BTW !!

Thats silver?!?!? To me it looks more pearl white or something in that photo.

 

Silver is great on these, such low maintenance and it doesn't really show scratches, swirl marks, etc.

In the Duelers' defense as a road tire, I got over 90k miles on mine before replacing. There were still a few miles left, and they drove well the entire time. But agreed, they're not an A/T or off-road tire.

 

Thanks for your reply. The tire dealership I have dealt with for decades is going to sell them for me on consignment. I go camping several times a year and I'd like a bit more aggressive tread.

Thanks! It was in a dealer's inventory and included many optional items; roof cargo basket, side tube steps, upgraded wheels, black out logo badges. Kind of like a special order.

My OEM Duelers got to feeling dangerous in wet/slush/snow at 20k miles. Just too darn slick at that point.

 

Good to know...thanks. I am getting a set of Hercules Terra Trac AT tomorrow. I had these on my 2016 SR5 and was pleased with the ride, low noise and off road performance.

 

Man those were even awful street tires. I made them work offroad until they wore out at 28k miles. They probably use those cause the bridgestone has a tire factory in Japan

 

They will be replaced tomorrow with less than 100 miles! Thanks for your reply brother.

Not really the tire we would want from the factory. But they help with MPG and ride, super quiet too. I did a bunch of trips with them and though i didn't like them, they they did very well even with some mild off roading.

Duratracs for me now.

Very nice and sexy looking 4R. I had a similar opinion on the stock HT Bridgestone. From my experience of stock tires from my owning my other car (not a 4R), I decided to replace them the first day. Since these are new tires, I was able to find a tire dealer who gave a small trade-in value for the 5 tires of Falken Wildpeak AT/3W which I decided to go with. Ride on off-pavement dirt roads is very comfortable on the new AT tires. Only issue is either alignment or balancing is off after the change. And the alignment shop I took the car into made it slightly worse without giving me the pre/post numbers !! Now that has forced me to learned everything bookish about alignment now and plan to adjust it on my own sometime in the near future.

 

The Hercules installed today are relatively quiet....smooth ride. Dealer gave me a deal we are both satisfied with.
