    2010 4Runner Limited (all stock); 131K for $16K

    Hey Everyone,
I owned a Lifted WJ on long arms with bilsteins and V8 axles all done myself, sold it and (downgraded) to an Outback for its capability and higher MPG, but at 187K miles on its 2nd CVT that was also slipping - traded it in yesterday for a 2010 Limited. I drove it 4 hours home from VA to NC and it did well. Not too bad, averaged about 21 MPG until I decided to keep up with 80+ MPH traffic. lol All good.

    LIGHTS:
First thing I'm doing today is swapping in LED 6000K bulbs for the dingy yellow high beams and fog lights. I wasn't happy with the amount of glare the H11's produced in the low beams so am keep those stock until I find a bright low beam solution with proper cutoff. More reading required. Later will be upgrading the interior lights.

There was a LoJack sticker on the windshield so pulled over at some point during the drive, found the OBDII plug to be white so removed it (LoJack) before continuing on my way.

    REAR CARGO AREA:
Has anyone removed that odd pull out tray in the back cargo area and made that area flat? Not sure what Toyota was thinking by adding that, but its...awkward.

That wasn't stock on the Limited. I think that was added somewhere along the way. The floor in my '11 Limited is flat.

    Congrats..

My new favorite in LED H11 bulbs are Hikari Titanova. Very bright and have a decent cutoff. I paid just over 93 bucks in Feb 2023. Now they seems to be 119 with the coupon available at this time of this comment. Here's the link if needed.

Thanks. For low beams, I actually have these same ones on order now that should be arriving tomorrow.
    Fog light bulbs are 30 Watt SEALIGHT 6000 lumen/ 6000K H11's
High beams are DiodeDynamic SL2 6000K.

I hope the DRL mode is dim enough. I have used LEDs with fans for highbeam but they were too bright as DRL.
I use Xenon Depot LED Pro with included DRL driver. Down side is they are not powerful in high beam mode as LEDs with external driver + fans.

I have tried 2 low power lasfit LED bulbs in fog lights but the reflector housing is too bright for the oncoming traffic. So I replaced with OEM like fog light housing from Amazon. Light patter, the housing looks exactly like newer TRD Pro fog lights. But the installation on Limited is little sketchy with the plastic bezel.

Honestly I kinda wished I had the pullout tray, or at least see it in person. I bet I would like it. Is that something you can add to a sr5? Or is has to be already equipped with it?

havent had a chance to put them in my 2011 reflector housing, but had leds in projector style housing in my 2007 sr5 and 2016 mazda cx5 and HUGE difference over halogens. I cant imagine why they wouldnt work but I’ll playbwith them and follow up later.

I tried a few LEDs on mine. Ended up going back to Halogens. The LEDs when they fail or go dim..rest assured you will be deep up country somewhere where you cant see shit!!!!

Otherwise I am a big LED fan..just not bulb pop ins for the bus

I hear you, thats why i keep the old bulbs it the glovebox. Plus you have highbeams as last resort.

thata the great thing about thw Lasfit. The fans are small, less than the size of a quarter in diameter and same size as the halogens.

Great point and something I had not thought of. Note to self, stash the halogens somewhere in the 4runner...

Seems strange that the 'flap' exists. I've not seen one of these cargo slides in person but in this picture of a 21 the deckplate with the two tie downs (and the little pull tabs to access the hidden compartment) and the slide forms a contiguous - flat surface as shown in this image with the slide fully retracted into the cargo area.

don’t forget if an H 11 low beam goes out, you could pop out the fog light H 11 and swap in a pinch

2010-2013 4Runners have reflector headlights. LEDs in reflector low beams will cause too much glare. Easy and cheap solution is to modify H9 halogen bulbs to fit, 45% brighter. German-made Osram Sylvania H9 bulbs can be found at Walmart.

For high beams where glare isn't a concern, these are the brightest available: https://www.ledperf.us/hb3-led-bulbs-kit-philips-ultinon-pro9200-lum11005u92x2-p-136645.html

For fogs you can swap in LED quad-pods like Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport with a street legal SAE fog pattern.

You do not want to put LEDs in housing designed for Halogens.
All it does is blind the oncoming traffic due to skewed cut off line and light bleed.
H9 upgrade is the only way to go for halogen housing unless you upgrade the entire light fixture.

Lumens is deceptive measurement it doesnt fully show actual light on pattern just light output. Its a marketing gimmick. Hit it with a light meter and check LUX instead.

This is where advertised raw lumens mislead buyers. The "bulb" base and LED emitter size need to be properly designed to maintain focus in the lamp housing. The challenge is to package the LED chips on the board thin enough to match the wire filament in a halogen bulb. Otherwise the light output from the lamp ends up being worse than the stock halogen bulbs. The Philips Ultinon LEDs are the only ones currently offered that outperform halogens.
Previous versions of Morimoto Two-Stroke and Hikari Ultra (which I snatched on clearance) did as well, but they're no longer procurable new.

i’d rather take my chances with a $65 product than $168 product. plus I have them in one car and I can tell you they are damn Bright and cast a pretty far and sharp cut off pattern.
