    Which one?

    1. Ride noise on the Freeway
    2. Off-Road capability
    3. Life (miles)
    4. Snow
    5. Rain
    6. Mud

You should add a poll to get the best results.

I liked my KO2's but heard good things about the Nittos as well.

1- I was pretty happy with the noise on the K02. Not like an all season, but not bad at all.

2- either one should be pretty good for basic off-road use

3- I have seen KO2's go 80K miles. Mine had 80% of their tread depth at 29K miles.

4- I think both are 3PMSF tires, but neither will be anywhere near as good as a winter tire.

5- based on what I've read I would give this to the Nittos

6- neither will be very good in mud. My KO2's did fine in shallow mud, but anything besides a true mud tire will struggle in deep mud.

Yeah, I had BF Goodrich KO 37" on my other vehicle (not a Toyota) they where realy good on all kinds of different roads. No vibration, silent on the Freeway and good Off-Road, just don't know how well they behave on a 4runner. Right now the rig has Nitto Terra Grapplers 265/70/17 which are OK, not so good Off-Road, just ok.

Coming from the KO2’s to the nittos, 100% nitto. The KO2’s did seem to hold up a little better tread wise, but everything else about the nittos is much better IMO.

I've got Nitto RG's, 17,000 miles, so far, so good. No complaints.

I'm running both of these. Have LT265/70/17 on my 4R and LT285/70/17 on my F J. Both are good tires and wear well. The KO's do not make as much noise. Part of that could also be a 2007 FJ vs a 2021 4R. I think the KO2 will have an edge in the side wall department.
Most of the off road I encounter here in the valley is sand at the beach. No issues with either tire. Never have been stuck with these. Did do a week long trip to Big Bend with the FJ/ Nitto RG's mixed with mud and desert terrain. No issues did everything.
Both tires look good. I guess in reviewing what I wrote, look at which ever tire has the best deal. Really the only positive of the KO2 is less road noise. IMHO

This is a good indication; I do not like to much noise on the freeway. I drive around 90-95% on the Freeway & City. My vacations are Off-Road (the 4 corners) mostly rock in Moab and somethimes encountering washboard.

No issues there, they’re a really quiet tire IMO.

Running a 295/70/17, E load and it’s incredibly quiet for what it is and for a nice aggressive tread pattern.

I have no experience with the Nitto's. But I had three sets of KO2's on my FJ over 11 years. Never an issue. Good side wall strength, good mileage, and reasonably quite on the highway. And they look good. LOL Going to put a set on my 21' 4R soon.

    What noise?

Seriously they are very quiet for the type of tire.

Bigger A/T LT Tires, Slight Lift, Sliders, Rack, Lights, etc.
I'd go with the K02 in C load and save a good bit of weight over the Ridge Grapplers.

I have experience as well with the KO, on a different vehicle. They are verry good. Thinking about it. Thanks for the feedback.

    Hello Don,

Which lift setup do you run to be able to fit the 285/70/17?

Right now I have corn fed spacers. Will be swapping out the rear spacer for a 2” coil and eventually swap out front shocks. I only wanted a 2” lift so I wouldn’t have to mess with a lot of other things.

I’m installing 295/70/17 load E RG’s today. Previously had same tire but 285 size. it’s a great daily driver all terrain tire but has mud terrain tire looks and ride characteristics.

Do you have after market wheels? I have the TRD Pro wheels. Any info on your caster settings?

They do pretty good in muddy conditions, and tuck in nicely:101010:

Nice setup. How did you fit the tires in the front without rubbing? They are about 33.6" if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks! Yep, they’re almost a 34” tire. And a decent amount of chopping up front is needed along with upper control arms to adjust caster.

Suspension is kings. Currently have trd pro wheels (17x7 et4) w/ 285/70/17 & 1.25” spidertrax spacers.

    New wheels will be 17x9 et-38 w/ 295/70/17.
