Nice. Do you spend a lot of time in your garage?

If you are going to use a portable AC unit, find a dual hose unit. A single hose unit won't do as well as a dual hose.

Also, I use a Whynter dual hose 14k for power outages in Houston. It can cool our 540sq ft bedroom decently well but that is about it. Depending on where you live, that 8k btu unit may struggle to cool the garage.

If you can put a wall unit in, it will serve you better than a portable. Wall units are way more efficient and perform better than a portable. Plus it doesn't take up any floor space.

Of course, a mini split / ductless would be the best choice. But that is way more $$$.

Well, Its getting installed right next to the TV so its close range for sure. Cant do the window unit. I have a 90 amp breaker going to the power box. Im actually wired for a garage door opener but Im not that lazy. And it gets hot here, Im mean hot, prob as hot as Texas. Im in the sun all day just cut trees down.

Let us know how that AC unit works out for you.

What did help my garage temps was that I put 1" rigid foam insulation with foil on both sides on the garage door that faces south. That reduced the garage temp by about 15 degrees in the summer. Next step will be to insulate the cieling which goes to attic space but, i have to pull a bunch of subfloor to do that.

I totally get that. No reason to run it if you're not in there. However, the lower the ambient temp of the space, the better the AC will work, when you do use it.

In the details it states: Let it sit up right for 24 hours before you start it. I guess to let the fluid settle. Thats going to be hard.

If you’re rolling it gently (or even not gently) on level ground and it’s upright the whole time I’m sure it will be fine.

if it’s been moved while sideways or whatnot they want the time to make sure all the fluids and oils are drained to where they should be. Usually I see those warnings on equipment with compressor/refrigerant cooling systems.
