best highway trip PSI for LT285/70R17 load-e 5500lbs curb weight?

please recommend from experience what PSI you prefer to run for highway trips (almost 400 miles).

tires are LT285/70R17 load-e aggressive AT’s, 5500lbs curb weight.

wow, 500lbs heavier than mine with all skids from a-arm to rear diff + sliders. I would assume your have front and rear bumpers, winch, rear drawer system and many more..

 

Steel sliders yes, steel bumpers no , I know it sounds heavy but that’s what the scale says. The weight comes from 4 skids, roof rack w/ gear, emergency box, full-size spare, and my heavy ass wheels & tires.

When I bought the 275/70 17 Wildepeak AT/3's, Discount Tire set them at 42 psi. The tires have 65,000 miles on them and the centers are worn to 9/32. The edges are at 10/32. The info I could find, they were 18/32's when new. I am very happy with the wear.

ALF is fully armored. Front and rear bumpers, winch, steel sliders, belly skids, shock skids, and recovery gear. Weighs 5520# with a full tank of gas.

 

@Stoney Ranger ahh I see good to know, very helpful Stoney. Sounds like pretty even wear at 42psi, maybe ever so slightly high

Started running 34psi front 38psi rear. Seems to ride a little smoother since I've got some pretty stiff coils up front.

35-40 should work just fine for you. The link Thatbassguy posted is a great recourse!

 

I find this Toyo 101 load inflation tables to be very educational. Based on axel rating you can learn how to calculate the required psi for LT tires.

No worries. With that load, 5 or 20 lbs wont matter at all. With that link you are fond of, you do see the max PSI for E load, go up to 80.,.. Right? Just checking.

only true way to find the correct psi for your specific rig is a chalk test. pick a psi to start at test/adjust until you get to the correct chalk markings. very simple process.

 

Just dug into this, then I realized it’s 37 pages worth and I’m a dead slow reader lol
I’ll need more time to calculate, I took Math 11 twice so I’m set

 

Ah yes the classic chalk test. I’m gunna have to try this for first time
