Having twice replaced my halogen bulb in a two-year span, I finally went with LED's. It is a better and whiter light output so in that sense it is an improvement. I don't know of the brand's reputation though. What I have are H4 LED, plug-in 9003 bulbs made by MZS.

I went the regular Silverstars and they're fine. If you like the white light the PIAA Xtreme white plus seems to be the closest thing to an upgrade you can get without resorting to stuff that isn't street legal (like LED or 100 watt bulbs). Back in the early 2000s before LEDs that was what people upgraded to.

LED drop ins are hit or miss, they can be good, but they'll never be legal. Which is fine since no one enforces it.

I'd recommend against drop in LED's.

I'd look for a quality halogen replacement, like Osram, Sylvania, or Phillips. I have Osram Nightbreakers for my high beams and have been happy with them.
