Hi, I am new to this Forum.

I have a 2017 4Runner SR5 and am looking for the best entry level Suspension (3”Front, 1.5 or 2” rear) What do you recommend?

Also, I wanted to try and fit a 34” tire. Is this possible ?

Welcome from Wisconsin! From what I hear on the forum you'll be doing a few mods to fit a 34" tire. Body mount chop, cutting/ trimming/ adjustment to inner fender liners and such. Someone with 1st hand knowledge will have more answers than I do. It should look great when you're done.

Even going to a 33" tire will likely require some minor trimming.

For entry level suspension, I'd probably look at OME, Dobinsons (15% off for Black Friday IIRC) or Ironman4x4 (20% off for Black Friday IIRC). You could also look at the ToyTec website or Headstrong and see what they are offering. I've had good experience with both of those companies. If the look is all you care about, then spacers should be fine. If you plan to go off road, stick with suspension lifts.

I’m running the Eibach pro truck lift(2.75 front,1 in rear) with 285/70/17 MTs. No rubbing from what I can see.

Interesting. Are you running spacers on the wheels or anything? Have you checked the upper and lower control arms for signs of rubbing?

So originally I was just going in for a fit test for the Cooper MTs that I was checking out, but after the fit test(I checked for rubbing all around and did a full turn test both sides to check for any other rubbing) I still found I had enough room all around. I am planning to get aftermarket UCAs since that was my biggest concern but as of right now, there is no rubbin g that I’m concerned about.

Does your use case include functionality/performance of the suspension or purely appearance?

It definitely helps with overall clearance and stability through the trails. I hit a lot of bumpy/rocky terrain here in NM and the Eibach kit handles it all very well. Plus it levels out the 4Runner pretty nicely as well.

Pic below with my rig with lift and new tires. I’ll get better ones later

Check out my build thread: https://www.4runners.com/threads/another-sr5-build.13098/

I’d consider it a entry level kit, and it’s been great on the trails. It’s a 3” front lift, 2” rear lift and I’m running 33.3” tires. I plan on upgrading in the future, as I do more trails and trips and zero in what kit will fit my needs the best.

When you say entry level, do you have plans of upgrading again in the future? If so it may be better to spend once cry once now. Rather than later.

for a budget lift I’d do Bilstein 6112’s in the front. Bilstein 5160’s in the rear along with icon 52700 rear springs. As well as spc UCA’s

if you want to drop a little bit more I’d do Kings front and back. Icon 52700’s and spc ucas.

to fit a 285/70/17 or larger you’ll need to trim your fender lining, a BMC and do your pinch weld.

I’ve had both combos I listed above and there both good. However king>anything else.

here is my vehicle on kings and 285/70/17.

BMC and pinch weld are not needed for 285’s depending on his wheel choice. I’m running 295’s and haven’t had much trouble with the pinch weld except for a few cases (should be remedied with adjusting caster).
@ThePnsh3r i believe has no mods besides lift and UCA’s with his 285’s.

Yeah, -38mm offset will rub on almost a vehicles I’d say. I have them as well and there’s no way they’d fit properly without modifications.

That is correct. I am running Ironman foam
Cell pro stage 2 kit and had zero trimming to do when using BFG KO2s on stock TRD off road premium wheels.

may be he means low budget or not expensive

If your going to do this just do it right the first time get all that you want out of your ride do not cheat your self look at your needs for suspension change what are you going to use it for and get what it needs good luck

@Gabe 2017SR5 there is a lot of good feedback here on the Eibach kit. It's one of the most popular midrange options here.

I am running 6112's in front at 2.3" and 5100's rear with Bilstein 1.5" lift springs. I am quite happy with this setup so far (I have about 15K miles on them). It rides well on the street, and has taken my level of off-roading abuse very well.

34" tires will require a bit of work. Even with lift (which on it's own doesn't actually clear tires), you'll be rubbing.

i would suggest putting in a nice foundation that can be built on. Icon 2.5 coilovers up front and spc uppers and in the rear 2.0 icon shocks and springs. this is a great foundation for future upgrades. since the icon coilovers can be sent back to have reserviors added and even adjustable res added. really nice to be able to upgrade what you have already paided for. fox also offers this but only res to adjustable res.

OP is asking about entry level shocks. Aside from that, I would avoid ICON due to known leakage issues.
