Just for fun.... Hands down what is your favorite camping chair and why?

I am trying to find THE Camping Chair. I have a fridge and one drawer in my trunk. Two Car seats. Camping equipment space is limited. Just trying to conserve space where possible. I have become a camper that is looking for Fast, Efficient, Compact, and Comfortable. I realize not all those things are possible when camping.

I just purchased the Cliq chair. It checks 3 checkboxes off for me

Pros: 1. Compact 2. Quick Setup and tear down 3. Comfy sitting for short term.

cons: $$, no neck support for long term sitting, cup holder

I feel like that $20 camping chair thats on sale during black friday is THE Camping chair.

You know not all those things are possible. You found a chair that checks three of the four boxes. What box does it not check? I think you found your chair.

I'm going to look at the Cliq now.

The GCI Outdoor Quik-E-Seat Chair is the best camp and all around chair i have ever had. Less than a second to open and close, comfortable and compact. Been using it for about 4 years now and still going strong.

A chair is something I won’t compromise on. I despise the feeling that I’m sitting in a canvas bucket, so I make room for a proper chair.

I do see your point and you're making me rethink things. Comfortability should be #1.

That sounds like the same one I have. It's a little on the heavy side, especially for a lighter guy like me, but it's tough and comfortable.

Big fan of the Front Runner chairs. They pack down very nicely into their carry bag and offer an upright seating position so you can use them at a table. The GCI table is what I'm using here:

If i'm NOT looking to pack light and compact i also have a GCI Outdoor Kickback Rocker Chair that's pretty cool. Still like the GCI Quik-E-Seat for its versatility most of the time though.

I have been using these chairs from Costco for about two years now (https://www.costco.com/cascade-moun...highback-chair,-2-pack.product.100743175.html). Surprisingly comfortable and eminently packable. I keep two in the back of my rig pretty much all the time. The only drawback is that they are a bit fussy in setting up. You have to assemble the frame and then pull the seat over the ends it. Not a big deal, but not as quick as say the Frontrunner chairs.

It sure as hell isn't the Walmart-special "Ozark Trail Adult Basic Quad Folding Camp Chair with Cup Holder" that's for sure.

It's a chair and technically works but felt like I was sitting on a canvas Tetris block. It's $9 though so for emergency use, eh.

    upload_2024-7-15_15-31-4.jpg

IIRC, I got to try out the "Timber Ridge Zero Gravity Lounger" at my local Costco and it was quite comfy. Can't speak about the ownership experience though.

I use a bucket that has cooler liner. Keeps ice for hours in the field holds IMG_0507.jpg just enough fluids to stay alive. And it has a roller 360' seat top.

Been rocking these director type chairs for a while now. Only complaint is packing as they generally just go on top of the pile in the back and can rattle.

My wife loves this thing but I absolutely hate packing it, goes in the trailer only. Its too warm for the summer as well.

Impulse bought a cliq knockoff at Walmart; it's tiny and stays in the vehicle permanently. Much better than nothing.

Front Runner Expander chairs are a good compromise between size and comfort; I have the double tote bag and managed to stuff a small table in there too.

My criteria was: not too big and heavy but comfortable reasonable sturdy and stable. And not too expensive so I won't be upset if I damage it. Also I didn't want any mesh (bugs might bite through it) and wanted a cupholder to put a beer in. So I found this one about a year ago and so far I'm happy with it.

    Sub'd for ideas.

I've had the same Coleman chair for probably 10 years or so. I don't really have any complaints. It's reclined enough to be comfortable, but upright enough to sit and eat. I also like that it has 2 different size cup holders.

It's starting to get a little worn out, so I'm starting to look for a replacement. I definitely can't complain, considering how many times it's been set up, folded, unfolded, and rained on.

I'm pretty sure this is the same one. Can't go out and get a picture right now because it's storming. :rain:

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Comfortability should be priorities 1, 2 & 3. If it's not comfortable to sit in, then I won't sit in it for even a short time. If I'm not going to sit in it, then why in the hell would I buy it?

Moon Shade by Moonfab (https://moonfab.com/products). Its about 8 lbs, goes up easy, can be mounted just about anywhere. In the summer, I'll often set it up just for lunch.

It is probably too big for real camping but I like the comfort. 23Zero has a spring back chair that is very comfortable. My wife and I had to use them during a remodel at the house (did I mention real camping?)

Anyway, they work great outdoors too!

    I like this camping chair.
It’s lightweight, folds down small for easy packing, has legs with skipole-like basket ends so you don’t sink so much into soft sand.
It’s kind of expensive, but I got it last year for $59. Now it’s around $89-99, depending on the color you want. Just about every damn thing I buy on A-mazon doubles in price in two years.

I went with this route... I prefer the hard arm rest... Much better for getting out of the chair... The cheaper chairs with just the frame with the material slid over it for the hand/arm rest ends up breaking the rivet where the frame X's under the seat... When pushing/lifting out of the chair,

Folds up in a second and goes in a bag (although it is little longer than the normal folding chairs) ..

I have a version of this chair. It’s a brilliant design. I abandoned its use however because for those of us with bad knees it’s very hard to get out of.

Yeah, that chair’s a little lower and if the legs sink in any further it would be a real effort to get forward enough to heave yourself out. I had to try out about 10 camping chairs at various stores to find an acceptable one.
There’s no perfect chair, you just have to pick your priorities.

In case of emergency, flop over sideways. You're now on the ground in the fetal position. Roll 90 degrees to your knees and elbows and proceed from there. :D

Got one of these with the sunshade. Best thing I've ever bought for the camping.

I also have an ARB chair. They're actually very nice once set-up. They can just be a little fidgety to unfold.
