    Hey everyone,

I'm planning a vacation with my wife to New Hampshire and would really like to find somewhere I can "dip my toes in the water" as far as off roading is concerned.

We have a stock 2017 Limited and I have all of the standard recovery gear at this point so I feel confident at least with the more basic things I would encounter and I've already gone on a sand trail near here as well as been on the beach a bit.

With that being said, I am not confident whatsoever with any kind of water crossing or rock crawling type situation... and I would like to simply "explore the outdoors".

So, does anyone have any suggestions in the New Hampshire area where I can find such a place?

New England is tough, there's really not a lot out there unless you know the right people, or know people who know the right people.

There are a few Northeast based Toyota groups on FB that you could join, and there's specifically a New Hampshire one.

One thing to look up is class 5 and 6 roads. They're state roads, but unmaintained, so they can get to be more like trails. Those are legal to be on, however one needs to watch the conditions, locals will typically want to stay off of them if muddy (or in "mud season").

Thank you for the response! I'll have to check into some of the local groups.

Every class 5/6 road i got to in NH area was gated in June two years back. I hope you find a different situation. It’s beautiful there but the struggle was real when looking off the beaten path.

When and where in NH are you vacationing? I'm a NH native. There are plenty of options but it's heavily dependent of where in the state you are. Also, locals that practice Tread Lightly keep trails close to the chest because of how many people act irresponsibly and get trails shut down.

Do you know of any beginner trails or class 6 roads in southern NH or within an hour or so? I'm about 15 minutes south of Nashua.
