Unsure best place to post. Mods please feel free to move.

Title says it. The batteries in the warn wireless remote just do not last. At all. The remote dies pretty quickly after a full charge and it will pretty much be dead if you ever have to use it. I leave a USB cable in the glove box with the remote so it can always be charged.

Googling this it looks like everyone has this issue with this remote and for the most part people are used to the idea of always being required to plug it in. I'm sure what other people have done or if anyone here has done anything.

The stock battery is 900mAh. I just replaced that with a 2100mAh battery. Going to see how that works and if it can keep a charge for any period of time. Depending on that outcome I might put in a push button switch so that when not in use the battery is cut off and there cannot be any parasitic drain.

Curious if anyone has dealt with this or has any thoughts?

Which model winch? I have the VR-EVO-10-S and it's a different remote. But, my battery died quickly as well. I've been using the cord.

FWIW, a friend from Tacomaworld is using the Warn app with the wireless HUB and it seems like a nice option if you give up on the Warn controller.

Warn zeon 12 S. Interesting...let me look into that...sounds very cool

Edit: I have a Zeon Platinum and looks like the hub does not work for platinum. Well that sucks. Appreciate the tip though

Reporting back - After a couple weeks of not using the remote, the battery is ever so slightly drained; just a sliver. I'd say that's a success.

I ended up installing a button to physically turn the remote on / off so it can't drain the battery. After being in place for a couple months, we still got battery! worked well.
