I'm doing my lift this weekend.

What size ball joint separator do I need?

    Will this one work? Thanks

You don’t need to separate a ball joint; the lower ball joint can be separated from the spindle by removing the two bolts from beneath. If you’re talking about for separating the tie rod end; usually just a couple whacks on the knuckle with a hammer will do the trick… though if you really want a tool for separating, I prefer using the puller style like this:

Yes, that tool will work, but you can usually borrow it for free from Advance Auto and the like. Fyi old, rusty, worn, crusty ones don’t always separate with a hammer.

A couple of whacks with the 3lb hammer and mine popped. 2016 Trail with about 45k on it at the time. Someone who does lift installs on the regular would have to chime in, but I would imagine that even if super rusty they'd separate if you hit it hard enough / enough times.

Yeah you would think so. :D Trust me, I speak from experience and now own one of those for a reason.
