    Hey guys,

Listen, I know what your all going to say, that this has been asked and answered a thousand times, which I know it has. But I'm going to ask anyways-

I have a 2005 4runner limited v8. I currently am running Vision Manx 398 wheels with 0 offset, and 265/65/r17 Cooper Discoveries, with very low tread, and I'm experiencing rubbing on the mud flap at full turn. I really want to upgrade to 265/70/17 Toyo open country at 2's, but really don't want to deal with trimming at all. Will I be able to get by with those tires if I just remove my mud flaps?

I'm concerned that if I'm rubbing on my mud flaps now with normal street tires and just the 0 offset wheels, that it will be very bad with the all terrains with the 70. Will the change from 265/65 to 265/70 be very significant?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I think you will rub. 1" spacers might help...but I think it will still be there.

The problem is your wheels. 265/65 are smaller than stock tires so you shouldn't be rubbing.

Adding a spacer is likely going to make your issue worse as it will just increase the swing area of your tire, making you rub more.

Without knowing the full specifications of your wheel, I can only guess that the fitment isn't the best. Is the stance really wide?

How tall is your lift in the front?

Do you know your alignment numbers? Specifically caster?

I have a 2.5 inch spacer in the front, I'm not sure of my caster. My exact wheels are 17 inch 0 offset Vision Manx 398's. I rub only on full lock if one wheel is elevated a little more than the other. Its sticking out maybe a half an inch to an inch out.

And correct me if I'm wrong, I believe 265/65/r17 is actually stock tire size? I'm just trying to upgrade to 265/70/r17

Right. At the very least, is there any chance I rub on my control arms or anything like that? If its just mud flap or fender liner, I can deal with that. But if its UCA's thats bad.

You should try an alignment. Push your caster as far forward as you can go with the 2.5" lift. That might get you to quit rubbing on the mudflap, but you could already be maxed out with the stock UCA's and it might not help at all. I'm not sure.

Aftermarket UCA's will allow you to move your caster up to get you away from your mudflap, if you don't mind spending money on those.

I'm thinking worst comes to worst, I'll just remove the mudflap.. I have a buddy who is going to let me try on his 265/70/r17 at tires for a little to see if they rub. I'll report back after.

Research shows 265/65R17, and/or 265/70R16, which is basically the same diameter tire on a 16" wheel, came stock on the 2005 4Runner. So, if you're having rubbing with 265/65R17 tires now, which came stock on your truck, the culprit is definitely the wheels. You'll definitely rub more with 265/70R17 tires on those wheels.

Well, I ended up going with 265/65/17 Toyo Open Country At3's. No rubbing at all with the mud flaps removed, looks great and I would definitely recommend them. Very quiet tires.
