40FDD76D-CE77-4549-8AB3-7D1AC68276A7.jpg This is what I’ve been using to freshen up the trans fluid. The manual calls for Dexron II. The drain bolt will remove two quarts. I try to do this every oil change it’s so easy...,,

First I used Car Quest. Then this. Now the parts store doesn’t carry these. They carry a Fram Dexron IV that says on the back it’s safe for Dexron II transmissions..
Geeze, it’s getting harder to keep on top of this...

And it got a new top-end for some reason after a botched timing belt replacement or something..,

Botched timing belt can't hurt the top end. Not on the 6cyl and I think the 4cyl too. Non-interference engines.

I know right! So how does one find out previous work that’s been done by the dealer?

There not allowed to give out information from the previous owner. And they updated the computer system since 1996.:)

Some states you could write to the DMV and have them send prior registered owner info. People would do this for classic cars.

ahhh...then if they don't know, and the dealer isn't talking...not much you can probably find out.

If the heads are date coded, you can for sure determine if they are replacements. Won't know why though.
