Drain pan, holds two quarts, then refill through dipstick hole. Torque drain bolt to 20 ft#'s.

Does the drain pan hold two quarts, or do you drain the pain and hold two quarts. How much to refill through the dipstick hole?

 

Yes, it holds two quarts per Haynes repair manual.
So refill with two quarts and check level while engine is running.
It only takes one pint to bring the level from the "cool" mark to the "hot" mark so top it off a little at a time.

 

I drained mine and then filled two quarts in an empty oil quart bottle. So its two quarts.

 

How did you get two quarts in an empty quart bottle?

 

One at a time.

 

The transmission holds much more fluid than 2 quarts with most of the fluid staying in the torque converter. I don't quite recall the exact volume but I think it is more than 10 quarts. Using the drain plug does not completely replace all the fluid. I suppose by doing several drain/fill cycles, one can freshen up the fluid.

 

I actually thought of this myself. I figure just do it when you change the oil.
