Are these wheel wells normal?

I have brand new 2024 off road. It seems the workmanship and coating is really shotty and skimpy. The front well well has no coating on the top except paint and open holes and bolts sticking through. The rear has a couple holes in the coating which seems like water will get behind it and possibly corrode. The brown is some sort of soft seal between metal.
    Should I have any concerns?

I s’pose one could get a rattle can of undercoating and fix that up lickity split of there are concerns.

My 24' is more evident with skimpy paint/coating than my 23'. I believe it's end of production than post covid problem. I did coat the sheetmetal that OP mentioned with rustoleum and cover the holes with black silicone. Fortunately the only places with skimpy coating are the wheel well area, underside is quite bare on both vehicles so I did spray some fluidfilm.

[OP] P.S. I believe the hole in the rear wheel well is a vent/drain hole so don't patch it. Spray some fluidfilm in there to prevent rust. However, do patch the screw that penetrated the coating.

The bolts poking through in the rear wheel wells are normal. That's come up here in the past.

The other holes in the rear wheel wells don't seem normal to me. Edit: it seems that those holes are there on all (or, at least most)5th gens.

This is normal. Front won't rust unless your battery acid spills out. Note the generous amount of seam sealer used. Rear has a rubberized undercoating applied at the factory. The seatbelt bolts poke through the coating. Over time (like 10 years) the undercoating will crack and fall off, revealing rust underneath. You can slow the process down by spraying all the nooks and crannies with cosmoline.

The holes are there for a reason, it seems. All 5th gens have those. Recent thread discussed those at length. Dealer doesn't need to "fix" them.

Are you referring to the bolt holes? Or, the other holes? I can't imagine what purpose they would serve. Can you post a link to the thread?

Edit: thanks for the link. Apparently we all have them, but nobody actually knows why. Weird.

Picture from the OP. I guess I need to look closer at mine, because I've never noticed them.

I heard bolt was normal but the other things just seemed a little strange and skimpy for a $50k vehicle.

So yours has no coating on the front at the top? I looked at another today and there’s had more coating and some type of gray/black paint, not the color of their vehicle like mine.

Thanks for the replys so far. I didn’t check out the front until I cleaned my wheels and noticed the lack of protection on it compared to other vehicles I’ve owned. I thought it odd given it’s an off road truck.

Yeah, the bolts are for the seat belts. Normal or not, I still think it looks shitty. Fortunately, nobody ever looks there anyway.

This pic is my 2021 ORP which has the metal showing in front wheel well (upper portion). Your post prompted me to check.

The bolts and slits in the rear wheel wells are normal. That slit or cut is a drain for the moonroof which I am told. I put fluid film on my bolts and in the slit with a q tip.

I never thought about the front wheels or noticed them to be honest. Amazing what an extra set of eyes does. Glad we are all sharing info.

Those rubberized looking strips on the top of the front wheel wells? My 2019 is exactly the same. Yours isn't missing anything. No post-Covid shenanigans.

No cause for concern. That's undercoating, seam sealer, corrosion protection. Those are all good things to see. I think you're asking about things that stand out because they are better than some of the competition. You're not used to seeing some of this on other vehicles, but not because it's shoddy workmanship. Toyota puts some thick, unattractive seam sealer on there, and that's a good thing.

It is like questioning why there is this thick brown stuff all over the outside of your chocolate cake, and Toyota puts a darker, thicker layer on their chocolate cake. Oh, it's frosting, no, it's a dark chocolate ganache between the layers with extra frosting on the outside. Huh, I guess they just do shoddy workmanship because I don't see that on Walmart cakes.
