I’m having issues with my Apple CarPlay. I’ll connect my phone via USB and it registers the phone, but won’t play out of my speakers. It continues to play out of my phone. Everything looks like it’s connected. Not sure if anyone has had this issue. I’ve tried to do everything on my phone’s end to fix it with no luck. Thanks!

    Hey there!
This happened to a friend of mine, and I'm wondering if you're having the same issues he had.
When connected to just bluetooth, does anything play? Can you turn the volume up and down? Does your regular nav still work?
Nothing would play for his regular bluetooth but the volume would turn up and down. His carplay would connect as well with no audio. He took it to toyota and got the whole thing replaced for free. It's some weird bug that happens. Not sure if you have one but I'm wondering if it has something to do with the JBL systems.

It will play through my 4Runner when connected to Bluetooth, but the minute I connect my phone to the USB, nothing comes out. It will show me the song/podcast playing, Waze navigation, etc in CarPlay display, but the audio keeps coming out of my phone. It’s starting to happen more often than not. Thank you for the feedback! I’m due for service in a couple weeks so I’ll mention it to them.

Android Auto works with the USB cabled connection, although audio and voice control functions are available through the Bluetooth connection. If you are using the Bluetooth connection and then plug in the USB, the Android Auto function supersedes the Bluetooth connection. Does CarPlay work like that also?

Yep. If I’m using Bluetooth, but try to charge my phone through the USB, apple CarPlay with take over.
