Hey all. If there is anyone near me in the Monterey Bay Area let me know! I’d like to talk about some potential modifications and recommendations for someone who knows their stuff near me. In particular mods to be done for 2024. Or if there’s someone trustworthy near me that can properly advise and do these services. Thx!

You trying to meet with someone in person to discuss mods? That can't be done here? Where you have access to a lot of people and a lot of experience. Instead you want to pick one random person to chat face to face?

    Am I missing something?

No you’re not missing anything really. More than anything I’m looking for a recommendation for a shop near me that, yes, I can talk to live about services to perform. For instance, “proper” lift height, wheels, tires, different roof rack, lighting, et al. I understand the forum is a great resource and ultimately personal preference but to do it right without compromising and “over improving”, I would want some direction.

One downside about talking to a shop. Generally they are going to recommend what they stock. This limits the options you are aware of.

Sorry, I'm not near Monterey (very, very happy to be gone from there), I just clicked on the thread because I wondered what was going on in my old stomping grounds. You do you, but I have to agree with Thacrow, there is nothing to be gained by going about it the way you are, unless I'm also missing something. Getting advice from a shop is the absolute last thing I'd do, for any product, ever. And meeting up with someone is going to give you one person's opinions. They could be the most experienced truck modder in the world and I'd still rather have the input of a forum full of people than a single person. Counter suggestions, positive and negative experience on the same mod, etc., are extremely valuable. I'm just totally scratching my head at why you'd want to go about getting mod advice the way you seem to.

After getting a lift I found out that normal places can't do alignments on a lifted 4runner that has adjustable components, including 4 wheel parts. Those guys suck.

I went to 3 places before finally making it over to SWAT customs in Freemont who gave me a good alignment. Sounded like they do a lot of lifts on 4runners, tacomas and other vehicles. Sounded like they knew what they were doing. Give them a call. The owner seemed happy to talk to people about their projects and goals.

Maybe OP just needs a friend? Is that still allowed in CA?

No. We don't make any real friends until we move out of state to retire because we never saved any money paying the mortgages here and spent all our time working or being grumpy.

I'd be laughing even louder if this wasn't so painfully true.

I'm in monterey. STAY AWAY FROM LAVENDER BROS. All they wanna do is sell you what they have and charge you a lot. Won't let you bring your own parts. When I had my tacoma, I did months of research on these forums and youtube, etc. Tons of useful info on these forums. Once you find a setup that you like, I'd recommend going to Peninsula Tire in front of NPS for your alignments. In my experience, they were the only shop who could align my truck with suspension lift and larger tires. Every other shop in town will keep you at stock numbers.
