    Hello fellow 4Runner nerds! (that's a compliment)

I was driving my girlfriend's car which had the Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) in the Denver stop and go traffic and I loved that feature.

Do any of the newer 4Runners have Full-Speed Range DRCC? Or are they just DRCC?

(DRCC works between 25-110 mph, Full-Speed Range DRCC works between 0-110 mph)

Thinking of trading in my 2018 TRD Off Road Premium for a newer model. Thanks.

That is a cool feature for city cars. But 4R's don't have full-speed. It's 30mph+. Agree with the above poster. The lack of systems like that is one of the (many) reasons I love my 4R (a 21' Venture). It's a hand-on vehicle all the way. My wife has a 4R too (a 22' Limited 4WD) and it has all of the creature comforts you can get on a 4R. Doesn't have full-speed either and that's fine with us. Toyota is plenty tech-savvy and could surely add that if it wanted to.

To me, the 4R shines in areas that matter. Enter Crawl Control. That system shows how incredibly advanced the 4R is in areas that are in its design-focus. It's not anything you need for the stop and start city driving you're describing, but if you get stuck in the sand on the beach - Crawl Control will get you out (it's worked for me numerous times). I'll take it over any kind of autopilot-like functionality any day.

wait a year, I'm almost certain 2024 4Runner will have that and lane trace assist too because fluid power steering is gone

I agree with the above. My S8 has "full speed" drcc and that shit is terrifying, more so at low speeds. The automatic braking, lane change assist, lane departure, dynamic cruise control etc... is all turned off in the Audi (by me). Personal preference, for sure, but I hate it and it is scary. I cannot turn it all off in the 4R (that I know of), but because it is 5 years newer, I will say the 4R's systems seem better.

Like the above poster said, if that tech suits your fancy (0+ mph etc), it is very likely the 2024 will have it (possibly and likely in lieu of all the cool things we all currently love about our 4R's). If not, perhaps an SUV from your girlfriend's manufacturer will suit your needs (Audi guy here praying it's not a BMW).

that's why I'm "almost" certain, the new Tundra, on the TNGA-F platform, got rid of fluid based power steering.
Even without announcing it, it's only logical that Toyota would put electric power steering on the new gen 4Runner

I meant there's no guarantee that the 24 will be a new generation.

Hold down the cruise control Button for 3 seconds or so when turning on and it will go to classic cruise control

Indeed, and you don’t have the potential to get rear ended by a semi truck if someone cuts you off to close in front. Ask me how I know…

i hate the radar based cruise control and i disable it almost all the time (hold the on button down for a few seconds)... ive had mine constantly react for no reason when a car in the turning lane on my left is turning etc.. .and in foggy or raining environments it will flake out and throw an alarm that it is not working and to clean it (something like that).. couple trips to several dealerships shows that this is normal...

ive had the dynamic cruise control on several other vehicles (audi, bmw, infiniti) and loved it... the 4runner implementation is horrible... wish i didnt have it..

I have the radar cruise control and hate it as well. Frankly, it's outright dangerous on a two lane highway when someone turns left in front of you. As as you try and go around them when they are 90% finished their turn, your vehicle suddenly slams on the brakes catching you and everyone else behind you off guard. I had someone just about rear end me in my first two weeks of ownership because of it.
I only use the standard cruise control since then, and I wish it was the default option instead of the radar version you have to override every time.

I actually dont mind the radar cruise control. But I never use it in stop and go traffic, or two lane highways (since it’s not really “cruising” in that situation).

But on a long haul interstate stretch with light traffic, I find it hard to refuse the radar’s speed matching. Once the traffic gets more moderate, and more cars are merging onto the interstate, cruise control gets turned off. I dont like giving up personal control of the throttle in those situations, whether it’s radar cruise, or regular cruise.

Thanks for the advice! I just decided to put a down a deposit for a 2023 TRD Pro and I'll be happy with normal cruise control (above 25mph)
