Hi guys. The previous owner installed one of those flexible short antennas and I wanted to go back to the OEM. I found the correct antenna but it the connecting end is a smaller diameter male end. The connection in the antenna base is a fatter male end. I thought maybe the previous owner installed a new antenna base but I looked up the correct antenna base for the truck and it is that very same fatter male threaded end. What gives? Toyota is recommending two parts to go together that cannot. Anybody experience this?

My antenna is in the rear side window.

Sure its not a GMRS or Ham antenna?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
On a 2011 Toyota 4Runner, the antenna is located on the rear roof of the vehicle, typically designed as a "shark fin" style antenna, which is integrated into the roof panel itself; meaning it appears as a small, raised fin on the back of the roof.

The previous owner had an aux radio installed. Maybe a ham/short wave/CB?

The shark antenna is for the XM radio i believe, side cargo windows are Diversity antennas for FM.

Oh, well that makes sense. Yeah, I know the antenna is in the rear right quarter window. I thought the fin was a secondary. But I guess it's only used for XM/Sirius radio.

Make sure the piece sticking up from the antenna base does not come out. The antenna that was in there may have a adaptor that made it a different size.

That is what I thought but it’s all one piece. And when I researched the antenna base part, I can see in the illustration that it is the same as what I have.
