Advice needed on adding cargo area overhead lighting

Hi, I'm going to add two or four thin round LED spring clip lights above the cargo area. I'm tired of looking for tools and such in pretty much darkness. I installed some aftermarket LED replacements for the rear hatch lights, also in warm white to keep the factory look.

I'm going to find the rear cargo light switch leg and wire the new ones to it so it's activated at the same time. Any advice? I'd like to find the wire I need without too much hassle but I'll need to drop the headliner regardless. Thanks in advance.

Oh and recommendations on cutting the headliner? I'm guessing just taking my time with a razor knife is the best bet as a hole saw could rip the fuzzy material.
