Hello everyone, joined up to search the site for some information. I currently own a 21 Tundra MGM Sport. However, we are in need of a new family car and I have my wife almost convinced to trade her (paid off) 2018 Malibu in on a Toyota. She loves the 4Runner platform but the damn gas mileage is holding her up, her Malibu gets around 35-40mpg's. Obviously comparing apples to oranges with a car vs SUV, but the mpg in the teens and somewhat dated interior is turning her away from the 2022.

No grocery getting wanted ... hopeful for an interior update, similar to the 2022 tundra, and a new powertrain option(s) for the mpg issue for the 2023 model year. Fingers crossed for a deposit down in our future.

See you guys around! Current ride.

Welcome from Wisconsin! That Malibu gets great mileage! Have your wife compare the resale value of the Malibu vs. 4Runner. Game over... Good luck on the 4Runner.

I’ll be honest and say most mom’s don’t love the 4runner for a family vehicle. Lack of features, lack of space, etc. There are better options, IMO

It does. I think Chevrolet did a good job with it, been a great car so far for us. Just as the family gets bigger something else might be needed. Depreciation cannot even compare between the two.

We did look at the highlander and considered it but the updated exterior wasn't appealing to her. The model prior to the redesign looked better imo.

Really? hmmm .. I can see that as there are a lot of other good options out there. Features and style are important to her along with an updated infotainment. Trying to stay away from GM, Dodge and Ford. Yukon/Tahoe, Grand Cherokee were talked about. Ford was a no. $$$
