Once he appears he asks you to pick one of five topics. Once you pick the topic, he instantly bestows upon you a godlike amount of knowledge of that single topic. There is no more research to be done, you know everything that could ever be known.

    Here are your options...

1.) The perfect oil change interval, to save maximum dollars and engine longevity.

2.) The perfect oil viscosity, to save maximum dollars and engine longevity.

3.) The perfect tire pressure, to maximize tire life, ride, and grip.

4.) The perfect lift, that maximizes ride quality and height.

5.) The biggest tire size that fit without lifting.

Once you choose there's no going back, you will know all on the chosen topic, and be no smarter in any other way. The knowledge you gain applies in no way to any other application (for example, if you pick oil viscosity, you are not a chemical engineer).

    Which do you choose?

#1 - covered in the manual

#2 - covered in the manual

#3 - Or, do a chalk test if it floats your boat

    #4 - probably around 2.5/1.5" , but I might be biased. ;)

    #5 - lift doesn't clear tires.

C’mon Pablo! What a waste of a genie visit. Why limit it to those questions when there are much more nebulous questions to ask:
    • When to use A-trac versus the rear locker?
    • What causes the steering wheel to shimmy on some 4Runners but not others?
    • Is there away to wire Raptor lights for guaranteed success?
    • Does having a ladder really make me a poser?
    The list is endless.

Yeah, I felt extra lame tonight. I was doing measurements to mount my old Thule box for a road trip later this year and I was thinking, "you know, a ladder would make this a lot easier". To make it even lamer, I found my Predator steps quite useful substitute, although working directly on the back would have been faster. Maybe I can restore my dignity by pretending I was measuring for a Rotopax fuel can.

You're right, I really should of included the king of the mountain, "I drive my 4Runner to and from work on the highway, which tires are best for that? And by best, I mean please list which tire you bought".

Don’t take my inclusion of the ladder on the list the wrong way. I’ve always found the ladder debate to be goofy as heck.

My take on mods has pretty much become "if you want it, and can afford it, do it." There are some things I'll always think are dumb, like crazy squat, and those cars with a shitload of negative camber. But, as long as it doesn't make the car dangerous to drive, who cares?

Oh no, I take no umbrage. I haven't seen the ladder tirades, but I've read enough other hot-button threads to guess the range of opinion. My position on the topic is that I wouldn't add a ladder unless I had a rooftop tent. I can do everything else almost as easily without the extra cost and weight. However, I enjoy seeing the variety of mods people do, and I'm happy for the cool guys to snicker at my boring choices. I always get all the way to where I'm going, and that's what I care about.
