Replaced the OEM tires with MT Baja Boss with supposed same size tires. But they are slightly different in size? .. do I need to replace the spare.?

Had the back window open for the first time. Opened the back gate and closed it. There was quite a rattle I assumed was the window. Should I close the window before using the gate?

TRD Pros come with non matching tires. Nitto Terra Grapper on running tires & Dunlop Grantrek in spare. I guess Toyota is ok with it but over thinking me didn't like it. I changed to 5 matching tires.

Me personally close the hatch with window fully closed or glass almost down. I'm pretty sure Toyota would have tested that but doing it that way just in case.

Because it is only a "spare", I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's meant to get you to somewhere that a repair can be made. Spare tires were never meant to be run long term. This is why so many cars have the "donut" spare tires. Personally, I incorporated my spare tire into the rotation with 5 matching wheels. Every time I rotate the tires (5000 miles), the "spare" gets rotated onto the car. Increases tire longevity and promotes actually paying attention to the spare tire. I think a lot of them get neglected and either are flat themselves, or are old and dry rotted. Either way, it's important to check the condition of your spare tire once in a while.

I assume you have a model with the spare on a steel wheel, and not the Limited with the same wheel & tire as the other 4, as you don't state what your 4Runner year and model are. How did you determine the MT tires are a different size than the spare? If you only plan to use it as a spare temporarily, @catbrown357 has the right idea. No sense in spending extra $$ for a new tire unless you plan to actually drive on it.

I would recommend opening and shutting the rear hatch with the glass all the way up.

Thanks for the responses. I have the 40th anniversary.
I thought I had read that , but can't remember where which is why I put the question mark there. I wouldn't be driving it far, plus the spare isn't a bronze wheel. :)

I will close the window from now on.

LoL yes. All 20 in models have matching spare tire and owners manual say its a 5 tire rotation for 20in models.

Here's a pic from my Limited wheels that I sold
