Just bought a 1995 4runner sr5 3.0 auto on 33s cranks right up no hesitation everything works ac heat very nice imo but has a couple little issues when driving it has zero power lol barely makes it to 40mph on level ground and only about 50 downhill trans shifts fine doesn’t overheat no check engine light and now it’s wanting to idle a little high imo idk around 1500-1700 any ideas can’t really dump a lot of money into it atm but love everything else about it thanks yall

Idle should be around 800. There is a screw that you can turn to adjust it on the left hand side of the engine. A tune is also in order as are fluid drains and fills. Start with that.

I checked for vacuum leaks with starting fluid never changed nothing would a bad fuel pump cause that issue ?

For your sake, I hope it's not, however, it could be worn lobes on the camshaft. I hate to reference a Chevy, but I had an old Malibu once with a 305 motor that developed the same symptoms and that's what it turned out to be. Probably NOT your problem, but it just got me thinking. The 305 was notorious for it.

Bad fuel pump will not make power. It can allow a car to idle but not make power.

You said the cat is removed? This car has an ECU, right? How does it deal with no CAT or O2 sensor?

Ok, if no codes, no vacuum leak, no cat, my gut would say, it's going to be in the intake\injectors\ecu.

I would focus on the power issue more than the idle. Might still be a transmission issue.

Can it go 40MPH in reverse?
