Hate to dismantle it but I have a 5-spd manual in an 87 4x4 PU. in the back forty not running. ? From a340 to 5 speed will it just bolt up and or what mods will I have to do?
Also ?'s on ECU and wiring to old A340?
Available too is a 94 Jeep auto trans I read somewhere would bolt up. Info about using Cherokee trans?
    Thanks, Jack

Probably won't work as 87 should be a 22re which is a different 5 speed than a 3.0 5 speed. As far as I know there aren't any adapter plates for that and the 1 transmission that will work is so rare and expensive that its usually easier to just go buy the correct 5 speed

Now if this is the rare 87 that has the 22re Turbo that would change things

Thanks for replying. the 87 is 22r carb. and may be the best shifting trans I've ever had! I'm glad then that I didn't try to put the 3.0 in the 87. What exactly is the difference?

They're whole different transmissions. Different bolt patterns and different ratios. The Bellhousings are different. So you probably have either the w56 or g58 transmissions, while the 3.0 needs an r150f

Right on, Thanks. I put solenoids in and it did not help! Has anyone had any luck pulling the valve body and cleaning or ? I cleared codes and ck'd, no new codes. Whats up when I put it in 1st and it acts like the E-brake is on? (a340)
    Thanks, Jack
