I don't like the stuck on tablet look either. But I don't mind big screens if t's integrated well, like in the Ranger

That is way better, but all this screen integration makes me nervous as well.

I read something a few days ago about pop adds being used in jeeps now.

Agreed. I hate the "open laptop look" that a lot of vehicles with large info screens have - really not a fan.

The front styling and overall stance are growing on me but that’s about it. I don’t like the screen that sticks out like a sore thumb, the degraded interior and the price.

6gen looks lifted compared to the 5gen.

They both look like 4Runners to me, and not like anything else on the market. Kaching. I'd be happy to live with the styling of either gen for a long time.

So in the new one you know you have an oceanfront view when the giant nav screen tells you, and in the old one you just look out the window and see it. Hmmm

The new 4R looks like it took styling cues from the 1st gen 4R but added modern lines
The new 4R looks like a baby clone of a new sequoia with the grille opening being larger, and exterior dimensions longer and wider. Otherwise side by side with a new Sequoia with both the same color, the new 6th gen 4R are going to look like a younger brother to the Sequoia with strong family genes.

The look of the 6th gen is growing on me. I’m fine with the looks of both gen’s. What I’m not fine with is the price increase and cost cutting measures of the 6th gen and the rest of Toyotas new trucks. That has got to stop.

I'm keeping my 23 ORP forever, but kinda thinking of getting the 6th gen Limited with the Heritage Blue and Portobello when the prices are below MSRP in 2-3 years.

Really liking the styling on the 6th ngl.

I said that about my 3rd gen taco, now I drive something different but still have the 2015 runner. I saw them coming out, if this model lasts as long as the previous one I will buy it in a few years when they work out all the kinks.

The trailhunter is 74 inches tall at the roof, the 5th Gen ORP is 71.5. Plus the one on the right is parking closer to the camera by just enough to make a noticeable difference in that perspective, just need to bring $68,350 plus options

Trailhunter comes with 33s. Would be interesting to see it next to a 5th gen on 33s rather than 31s

In my view there is a very long list of better looking trucks than either gen 4Runner. Looks is not why I bought mine.

I like the looks of my savings account better without a 6th Gen.

Here’s mine next to the 6th gen OR I looked at last week. Mine’s on 285/70-17 on stock OR wheels. You have to account for the fact the 6th gen parked on a slightly higher walkway.

Even without the plastic fender flares it looks wider and beefier than the 5th gen.

I am shocked that most reviewers are saying that the 6th gen drives less trucky than the 5th gen.

My guess is because most reviewers are comparing a stock 6th gen to a lifted/modded 5th gen?

It's the only explanation that I have, since I thought my 5th gen stock, felt more like a late 90s Lincoln Continental than a truck. It was like riding on clouds.

I'm sure more car like experience was part of the design parameter with how many people using the 4R as butch Venza.

Expectations like that is why we will never again get things like the Jimny(we knew it as the Samurai) here.

Venza does not have reliable NA V6 or large buttons for all controls.

Anecdote. As part of initial new owner survey by Toyota I agreed to answer further surveys. Recently, Toyota sent me a survey asking about types of road surfaces I am driving on. I was honest in answering 99% pavement and 1% maintained gravel road driving. Surprisingly, they didn't mention deep snow, which I pointed out in comments section.

    You are all welcome.

the first gen Venza was made with the NA 3.5L v6 share with many other models until 2017.

I'm honestly not mad about that. Let's face it, 99.99999999% of 4Runners don't see gravel or dirt ever. So to keep the nameplate alive, it needs to appeal to a broader audience. As long as it keeps the legendary off-road capabilities it's all good, hell, most reviewers are saying it is still the same capable beast it always has been.

This. Also, I'm sure the majority of those buyers don't care about body on frame, let alone know what that means.

New 4Runners front is kind of ugly and why so big/wide, going to suck for off roading. Its only got a 4 banger, and if i wanted an ugly big Ford i would just buy a Ford. I don't mind the rear end, but boy could the guy couldn't have taken a worse video... Vertical and not horizontal????

    Look at the new Highlander
    Look at the new Sequoia
    Look at the new Tacoma

They are all starting to share a similar appearance in the front and side body lines. This new 4R fits right in with them

Gen6 looks more modern but after 10 full years and over a million copies sold of the angry-but-lovable stinkbug (2014 refresh to 2024..) how could it not look fresh. Parked next to a Bronco, the wider track and larger wheel/tire combo now finally make it look every bit as capable. Park next to an LC250, and Gen6 looks like it’ll steal its lunch money.

My only gripe is that the Tacoma face is a little more handsome just b/c it gets right all of the items that we’d probably change on the 4R front end.

I agree the back looks better than the front.
Also I already have to squeeze through tight trails and getting pinstripes on mine in some of the trails here in AZ. The width of the 6th gen would only make it worse

Yours looks like a RAV4 compared to the new, improved 6th gen. Not trying to be mean, but really, what a difference. The slightly higher walkway is not making that much of a difference. It's the vehicle parked there. Is your 5th gen a 2010 or a 2024 or somewhere in between those years? Oh wait, I see it now in your profile a 2021. It's hard to tell those 5th gens apart for me. I had a 2016 at one time.

I forgot to mention, my Rav4 lookin 4runner is also lifted nearly 3 inches, besides being on 33 in tires. The new 6th gens are definitely big and chunky. It’s definitely going to be harder to make it slink through narrow trails!

That straight on view of the 6th gen reminds me of a Durango.
