I've looked thru the posts, but did not see one about this. Is it possible to remove your stock front skid plate from the truck without jacking it up or does it need to be on ramps? Ordered a new front skid plate and was planning in installing it myself.

The ears on the front make it an annoyance on stock trucks. The plate has to swing down to clear the ears and the height of a non lifted truck just isn't quite tall enough to allow the plate full range of motion. It can be done, but save the hassle and either use ramps, park with the front on some 2×4 wood, etc.

even without lifting it, you can wiggle the stock skid plate off the ears. but keep in mind, it may be pita to align the ears back when installing again.

I just changed my oil yesterday. Stock suspension, stock size tires. Did not have to use ramps or blocks. Unbolted and swiveled forward and removed. Put ears back in and bolted back up without lift or ramps as well.
Each truck may be slightly different though.
