Here is the info. Looks like I'll be getting this setup.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-3rd-gen-tacoma-5th-gen-4runner-power-folding-mirrors.596547/

Hi Again Everyone! :hattip:Well I have started this New thread up now that we are ready to put these up on the market! The How To! writeup is located HERE. I thought I would be best to start with a clean slate now that people will be placing orders and this can be the new come for placing orders. I will be offering 3 Options:

OPTION 1 - “3rd/5th Gen Power Fold DIY Mirror Parts Kit” for those members that are willing and able to do so themselves, but just need the right parts. This is NOT a “Beginners” Kit. This Kit includes everything you will need to install inside your OEM Mirrors. Items include: Powerfold Actuator with Wires, Connection Plate, Replacement OEM Toyota Adjust & Fold Switch, and Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors. This wiring is NOT 100% Plug-N-Play. This is the least expensive option selling for $274.98

OPTION 2 - “3rd/5th Gen Power Fold Complete Mirror Set” for those members that are not wanting to take the time to mod their own Mirrors and would rather purchase them ready to install. This is the true “Plug-N-Play” Set of Mirrors. However, you will need to modify/be able to complete some wiring with the Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors. This option offers two packages:

Package A: Complete Set (Non-Tech - Power Heated Turn Signal) $497.93

Package B: Complete Set (Tech Package - Power Heated Turn Signal Blind Spot Detection) $596.93

OPTION 3 - “3rd/5th Gen Power Fold Complete Mirror Set in Exchange for your OEM Mirrors” for those members that are not wanting to take the time to mod their own Mirrors and would rather purchase them ready to install. This is the true “Plug-N-Play” Set of Mirrors. However, you will need to modify/be able to complete some wiring with the Automatic Control Box for the Folding Mirrors. This option offers two packages:

Package A: Complete Set (Non-Tech - Power Heated Turn Signal) $357.93

Package B: Complete Set (Tech Package - Power Heated Turn Signal Blind Spot Detection) $396.93

Process: I’ll send you a “3rd/5th Gen Power Fold Complete Mirror Set”. You pick between Package A or Package B depending on your Truck/4Runner. Upon arrival of your New Power Fold Mirror Set, you will need to remove your OEM Mirrors and install your new set. Finally, once you are satisfied with the Power Fold Mirrors, you will mail your OEM Mirrors back to me (you pay for the returned shipping) so I can start the process back up with another member.

*BONUS* - I will be offering a ME-SO CustomsReplacement OEM Window Switch Panel for those that do not want to modify their own OEM Window Switch Panel for the 3rd Gen Tacoma’s. This will not be included in the 3 Options above, but it may be purchased separately for $175.00.

NOTE: T4R Members that do not have a TW Username, feel free to send me an email if you would rather not make an account or send me a message on T4R. Also, when you make a payment on PayPal, please list all of your information in the comment section there or by email rather than the T4R site

Ok. It works. Have pics of the deinstall. Going to do pics of the reinstall. Plus add some notes. Then (KTJO 4x4) is going to get the wording and pics together. Almost done.

    UPDATE:

Alright everyone! 4Runner DIY Kit is 100% installed inside the OEM 5th Gen Mirror!

Things we found out during the install process:
    • Connection Plate or the Adjuster Actuator Need to be Switched Out
    • Connection Plate Needs to be Modified to fit the OEM Turn Signal Signal
    • Three Cirlcles on the backside of the Mirrors MAY need to be Modified depending on the Adjuster Actuator used for this Kit
    • Mirror Housing Adjuster Actuator mounts are not needed and therefore are cut off and smoothed out to make a clean surface for the Adjuster Actuator to mount cleanly to the New Connection Plate
Other than that, I think that about sums it all up. Everything else went extremely smooth with the install process. All we are waiting on now is the 4Runner Switches and Wiring Harnesses. However, we did a test of the mirrors to make sure they were operating and functioning 100% after install. What do you know, they WORK!!! :bananadance:

Question for 4Runner people...I am completing the final touches and I need some feedback. The Connection Plate I received was too big so it did not work on your OEM Adjuster Actuator. I checked into sourcing just the Adjuster Actuator and believe it or not, it’s impossible to just get the Actuator itself. My vendor has three Actuators but none of which are the ones that match up with your OEM Mirror Glass. The one you need is the Tacoma one :) So....I was able to use the existing connection plate and your OEM Adjuster Actuator with two of the three mounting holes by rotating your adjuster to match up the holes with the Connection Plate that comes in the Kit. However, does anyone know if the Whitr top part on your Adjusting Actuator can be rotated? This is the last thing I need to finalize before I release these things for the 4Runners

    UPDATE:

Today was a HUGE success for the 4Runner!!! The 5th Gen Power Folding Mirrors are a go once I finish the installation instructions. I will be working on it all day tomorrow and I’m sure it’s going to take a lot of time. I’m not sure if I will end up finishing it tomorrow or not. I will make it as detailed as possible as I know you guys are going to need it :) This has been so much fun! I cannot wait to get more feedback!

Here are some key modifications that will need to take place during this install:

    1. OEM Mirror Housing does need to get trimmed on the backside to get rid of most of the tabs around the circle where the Actuator rests.
    2. Connection Plate has a few areas that need modified in order to make it work for the 4Runner, but it works. There needs to be a small section cutout for the Turn Signal which isn’t too bad. There needs to be two 1/8” holes drilled through what are already mounting holes, but you need to be able to put a screw in from the backside instead. It will be identified in the instructions, but you’ll need to sand down two of the Actuator mounting holes that sit higher because they’re not used and they stop the OEM Actuator from sitting low enough. Lastly, there are some tabs that just need shaved off so the bottom cover piece can sit flush up next to it.
    3. On the Actuator, there is a tab on the top thay just holds the wires, you will not need this tab anymore and it also prevents you from being able to rotate the Actuator to line it up with a mounting hole for the new connection plate, so you’ll just shave that off too. Very minor. You’ll see.
    4. Last modification that is needed is in the backside of the Mirror Glass. Due to rotating the Actuator, the three little circles do not matchup anymore. It’s ok. They are pointless anyways. Just shave those right off and make it smooth.
I’m pretty sure I touched on all the modifications that are needed for these Power Folding Mirrors. Trust me, you are going to absolutely love them!!!

Here are some pics of what they are going to look like when you are done!!

I would like to say a big thank you to @Braves95 for helping me with the final stages of this project. Being my installer guy and #1 tester, I greatly appreciate it. I know you took a risk on me and I’m sure had your doubts on whether I knew what the heck I was doing and if this was even going to work. However, thank you for taking the plunge and saying yes, that you would do it for me!!! Without you, I guess I would have had to purchase a 4Runner myself ;) But seriously, thanks a bunch for everything you did during these last two weeks.

If anyone wants to know the rav 4 mirrors will work on the 4runner. I put them on mine. Should add them while doing this mod.
@KTJO 4x4 should have the part numbers and where to order them from. Still on vacation so don't have the info handy.

    UPDATE ON THE WEEKEND:
    1. I have OFFICIALLY SHIPPED ALL DIY KITS for the 5th Gen Toyota 4Runners!
    2. I have also OFFICIALLY SHIPPED A BRAND NEW SET OF POWER FOLDING MIRRORS to its first New Owner who is currently installing them TODAY!
    3. I emailed all of the NEW OWNERS the Installation Instructions, so they are DONE!
    4. I re-built 4 Non-Tech Tacoma Mirrors this weekend, so they are ready to be SHIPPED out once I finalize the wiring harness and switch situation for the Tacoma's!
    5. I ordered the Wire Extension Harness for all of the Tacoma orders so those will be coming in soon!
    6. The 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma Installation Instructions is half way done as well!! Only areas I have left to cover are the Rebuild and the Wiring sections :)
    7. Placed another BULK ORDER for my PNP HARNESS for the 3rd Gen Tacoma and I am in the process of ordering the PNP HARNESS for the 5th Gen 4Runner so you will not have to tap into your OEM Lock/Unlock Wires. This will be an option you can buy with your purchase of the Power Folding Mirrors!
Overall, it was a very productive weekend!

All done. And I believe @KTJO 4x4 is going to start a new thread so she can update and such. Any questions can go to her or I.

Well all of the shipments have been delivered. Yes. I will be starting a new thread once I have placed my bulk order. Im just waiting on the final pricing with some of the changes I had to make during the alpha phase. I’m actually thinking of starting a thread and maybe doing something similar to what I did with my PNP Harnesses. Allow people that want to Pre-Order and send their payment in to go ahead and do so. If people are up for this and think I should go ahead, let me know.

Ok. Everyone, I will be creating a new thread today that will list the new batch as I received the final pricing last night. I will attach a link on this thread once it has been created. Get your wallets ready!
