Just picked up my new 4Runner, looking around the engine I see something I’m unfamiliar with…what am I looking at? Haha
Small pump looking thing right behind the passenger headlight.

As another note, sure really like this new 4Runner! Pretty excited to get some miles on it!
Took 4 months, but the 2024 TRD Pro is here finally!

Secondary air injection pump. Swap the foam filter out.

it has a foam filter that breaks down over time depending on the environment your in like very dry high temperature ones or like me constant off road where there is a lot of dust they clog up, I started out by washing mine out all the time and it started to tear so I did the mod.

Does that cover just pop off? Or are the filters replaceable? The mod looks pretty good seems like that solves the problem altogether

Yeah get on it. Replacement pump is ~$500 at the dealer in 2023 dollars.
