Has anyone installed roof racks wider than 49"? I found a great deal on a roof rack platform and was wondering if anyone has installed wider racks.

    Lots of goodies
I think that would probably not look very good and buyers regret would set in very shortly after installation.

If I recall correctly, the roof itself is about 48-50" wide. Aside from the aesthetics, I would be concerned about wind noise and a significant loss of fuel economy.

Aside from that, there's not really any reason not to.

I'm curious if anyone has run a rack that wide.

I got 54” yakima round bArs. No issues. Makes great for hanging towels at beach. Not any louder than when i had 48” bars
