Hi everyone. I’ll put the techy stuff first and the why at the end.

I recently put fox 2.0 on the 4th gen with new rear coils too. Will they fit on a 5th gen, maybe even with minor fab work? I’ve seen thread the other way around and seem feasible.

I have an 05 limited that I planned on building into my adventure rig. Then my wife got a ‘21 limited and wants to us that more roadtrips/weekend warrior. I’ll always a 4Runner in the family because you just can beat the back window down on a nice day. I may sell the 05 for a Tacoma so I have a bed for homeowner futures.

As far as I can tell, they're functionally identical when it comes to things like coils and shocks. The big thing to remember is that lift heights might reference differently, I believe the 5th gens sit a little higher than the 4th gens just via taller springs. I bought my OME suspension off of 5th gen guys and it works just fine.

I may try and find a shop that has parts for both and compare side by side. Not from a loading standpoint, but a mounting standpoint. See if eyes/bolts are the same sizes. If anyone else has don’t this backwards like me, feel free to chime in :)

The lower front shock mount is more narrow on one , I think the 4th gen. Everything else mounts the same but ride heights will be different. You can put a washer into fill the gap on the front shock mount.

I think you are right about the 4th gen being narrower. That’s what I found before as well. I’m ok with the ride heights. Wife’s would stay a daily and is stock now. I don’t mind using spacers to level ride if needed. It’ll only see mild off road/expedition stuff.
