    Hi everyone!

I bought my 4Runner in 2004 and have adored it ever since. My username may be a bit confusing, so to clear it up, I love 4Runners and the Toyota brand; however, I HATE the repair services in their dealerships! I don't think they hire actual certified automotive technicians or even simple mechanics.

One example of my frustration is when I took my 4Runner in to have the dashboard replaced due to a recall, they broke my GPS and a piece of plastic off my console. When I took it back to have them fix the GPS, they denied causing the damage because "the work they did had nothing to do with the GPS." Which I thought was weird, because the dash is right there around the GPS / radio. They agreed to look at it, and when I got the truck back, the GPS didn't work at all whereas before the second "repair" it was at least showing regions and roads on the monitor that had nothing to do with what was programmed into it.

Sorry to go on a tangent, but people pay enough for these vehicles that it shouldn't be too much to ask that experienced, qualified technicians be hired to maintain them, rather than people who seem to have only worked at the Gap or McDonalds.

Aside from bi###ing about dealerships, I spend my time as an Office Manager for a home improvement company, specializing in retrofitting homes for disabled individuals. I also foster Wheaten Terriers for a local rescue.

    Welcome to the forum.

Can attest that I never worked for Gap before retiring being an automotive technician.

Good and bad techs everywhere, It appears the poor techs always win out in giving the entire bunch a bad rap.
