I’ve compared the interior dimensions on my ‘23 4R with a 2019 Land Cruiser on Edmunds, so I see the measured dimensions by the numbers. However, I haven’t been in a 200 series, but when I see them, they seem to have a taller roof/cab. The dimensions seem almost identical for headroom and the LC has an extra inch or of shoulder room and leg room, but not much (according to the numbers).

Do any of you have experience inside each and do they feel different with the “seat of the pants” feel? Is the LC roomier to a noticeable degree for driver and passengers?

I ask as I have a chance to get one, but it’s a few hours away and before I make the drive, I’m curious if there’s any non-scientific comparison opinions out there. I can’t find any local to me to go check out. I’m 6’ 4”, 226lbs, so the thought of a roomier interior is attractive.

I’ll be keeping the 4R regardless.

Many thanks in advance for any opinions.

My previous neighbors had a 2019 LX and it did not feel that much larger. Was kinda disappointed because sitting in it was how I was trying to convince my wife we needed one

Previous to my 2023 4Runner I owned a Land Cruiser and for my 6'3" frame and 190 pounds it felt more spacious, wider and with more room in the back. I removed the rear seats and slept in the back hundreds of times. Floor to ceiling was taller and it was wider and longer. Not by a lot, but an inch or two here and an inch or two there adds up. I routinely travelled with two racing bikes and a futon for sleeping and I was always very comfortable and didn't need more space. The 4Runner is noticeably smaller but not to the point of it feeling cramped. I only have one bike now so I haven't tried to put two bikes in the back but I don't think I could put two of them in the back with my futon next to them. It's too narrow.

Here's a concrete example: In the Land Cruiser when I put my bikes in the back, I simply removed the front wheels and slid the bikes in with the front forks and rear tire on the floor. With the 4Runner I can't do that. I have to first use an Allen key to loosen my seat post and then I push down on the saddle to lower the post into the frame of the bike - only then will it fit in the back of the 4runner. Exact same bike. So even though it may just be an inch or two difference in height, it's noticeable.

One more thing: I found that the Land Cruiser measurements for the interior height of the cargo area were done at the lowest point in the ceiling, which was the rear air conditioning duct that ran across the ceiling (from the left to the right side of the vehicle) just in front of the third row. But behind and in front of this duct there was another inch of space at least.

To say nothing of the outstanding build quality. I miss it.

The LC200 is definitely roomier than the 4runner any which way you look at it. It is wider, higher and has more leg room all around.
I have spent extensive time in a 2011 LC200 and from purely inside space stand point and feel you will notice it right away.

LC200 is definitely bigger inside in every dimension…At 6’3” and 260+, I found it super comfortable. Wife drove it for 10 years before kids grew up and swapped to a RX350. We took multiple road trips with three kids, one sitting in the rear. It was acceptable. I don’t have a three row T4R but have to imagine considerably less rear seating space. And that V8 in the LC is a cruising beast. But I also found my T4R to be more nimble around town in everyday driving with plenty of room for just the two of us.

That being said…never camped in the LC. My current 4Runner takes about 5min, 4 bolts and a little platform to become a full on boon docking machine sleeping in the back…no way in the LC200. So more room is subjective based on use.

    Most definitely!
We used our LC for extensive inter state travels. These were well paved roads with the occasional rough patch here and there.
It had a commanding view of the road ahead and you sat pretty much over anything else on the road ( this was not in the US). The interiors were functional and covered the basics and more. I believe spectacular is no substitute for substance, and the LC had substance in buckets.
The seats were comfortable for long hauls and even the under thigh support on the middle row was more than acceptable.
It drove like a boat in comfort mode but switch to sport and it could take a few sharp turns within reason.
It was thirsty and what it lagged in performance , it gained in drivability.
It never broke down, had no rattles and felt safe being inside one. And if you wanted to take it off road , it had the chops.
Basically it was a XXL 4runner IMO.

The other thing about the 200 interior is that everything about it is nicer than the 4R. It LOOKS more expensive/nicer, and everything you touch FEELS higher quality. As it should, for nearly 2X the price, haha.
