I know it’s a personal preference, but I like the retro look of the 40th anniversary stripes. Not always a fan of stripes - no matter how fast they can make you go. :) These seem to go well with body lines.

It’s not like I’m a poser adding pro-emblems :)(actually, 40th’s are SR5s, I believe, and I have an ORP). That doesn’t bother me anyway, to each his own. I’d have to lose ORP emblem, but meh….

Aftermarket, maybe $200, OEM, $400 or less if you find a parts dealer that discounts.

I wasn’t going to pay dealer markup for a 40th SR5 when only big diff was wheels, decals, emblems, seat embroidery. Would have been 5k over my ORP. Just buying Decals and wheels would not come near that.

Anyone else considering adding stripes, thoughts?

never cared for stripes or bronze wheels. I know there is market for second, didnt realize there is for the first.
If you like it buy it. :)

Stripes and decals can look good when done right IMO. I think there are some better options out there than what they did with the 40th anniversary stripes. Checkout places like tacovinyl.com for some other options to get a retro look. Just googling 4runner decals brings up a lot of good stuff too. Plus, getting a color scheme that is a little more subtle with your trucks color (compared to the classic Toyota colors) might look better.

I kinda like the 3 stripes running perpendicular to the wheel well, either front or back. See https://tacovinyl.com/products/super-size-universal-decals?_pos=1&_sid=184cb1bbb&_ss=r

I also like the decal running down the bottom of the doors.

Do what you like! Decals aren’t super expensive or permanent either.

I dont understand where the red orange yellow came from. I had an 87 4Runner, and it was gray with silver fade stripes. Looked exactly like this. This is all I've been accustomed to seeing in one color or another.

    Very nice

Most I’ve seen were like yours . I recall a beige color with the tri-color stripes. I think…Not sure if it was factory, dealer, owner install.

40th decals should have looked closer to this:

I wonder if it could have possibly been used off of the Ivan Stewart color scheme back in the day?

Ivan Stewarts truck made it popular in the 80's and 90s, but Toyota used these colors on some of their race cars in the 70's.
