    Nothing yet!
I recently bought a 2023 SR5 with the 3rd row seats. They told me these are highly coveted but I don’t see myself ever needing/using them.

I’m wondering about removing them and doing some sort of custom storage or something back there instead.

Has anyone ever seen or done anything like that?

Id love any advice or ideas….thanks!

No advice on how to remove.

But I can talk about "SR5 with the 3rd row seats. They told me these are highly coveted". In my case I have found 3rd row seats are very useful for me with my teenager with friends, parents and in laws coming from abroad.

It is possible for sure. I added 3rd row to my limited. I found a wrecked one and took all the seats, hardware, paneling, and seatbelts. It was pretty time intensive but doable. If I didn’t have 3 kids I would do something along the line of what you are wanting.

I intentionally don't buy vehicles so I don't get roped into driving people places.

If I was more eager I would rather just get a minivan. Getting in and out of the 4Runner's 3rd row seats is awkward for short people(due to the step in height) and tall people alike.

Yep, people have done a wide variety of things ranging from deleting them entirely to pulling out the seats and putting in compartments for more hidden/enclosed storage. Heck, you could even split the difference and remove only one seat if I recall correctly.

I removed my 3rd row and just made a platform. Best move yet.

I could not find an SR5 without the third row seat so I picked up the ORP - I need all the cargo space vs more seating. My sales man gave me a nice discount as well, so I stepped up to the ORP - I may never need the rear locker, but you never know.

Removed mine, swapped the interior trim pieces, and used the bolt holes for the third row to bolt down a partial sheet of 3/4 plywood for a cargo platform.

It did require some custom 3D printed brackets.

With this set up, you can make different “modules” to bolt in and out on top of the platform. Just remove some of the bolts that go through the platform and through bolt whatever you’ve built on top of that.
