Hi all - proud owner of an absolute beater 2002 4runner SR5. Purchased for $3k, been doing some parts upgrades / replacements (most recently a full exhaust system replacement).

My next journey is wheels and then suspension. The wheels I currently have are old and rusted. I'm looking for newer, but still used rims to swap out on new tires. I just found some at a salvage yard that are in good condition (and cheap) but they are originally for a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero.

They're the same size, no rust, good shape - 16", 6 lug, 5.5's. Has anyone done something like this before? My gut is that they'll work fine since they're the same size, lug count, etc, and the old Montero is a beast of an SUV so equally durable.

That said, I'd love some perspective from the wider group. Thanks!
