34x10.5R17 on 5th Gen

Curious if anyone out there is running 34x10.5R17? Seems Toyo is the only company offering that size. Load rating D and weights 55 lbs.

BMC and some trimming will be required but might be a good compromise.

 

This came up not long ago. Good size for the 4Runners imo.

I believe it's within an inch of width of a 285/75/17.
It's also pretty close (depending on the brand of tire) to a 255/80/17.

I've always assumed that's why its not a very common size.

 

Used to be able to get BFG ATKO2 in that size????

This is probably the right size for anyone who wants a taller tier than a 285 and wants to minimize any rubbing. I went back and forth with these, ultimately cheaped out and bought a p load 285/70 lol

 

Atleast for me anything over Load C for my almost stock weight 4Runner is a no go. Load D is tempting, but then I remember how much Mrs dislike the Load E tires and don't want to take risk.

Want to get rid of my spacers n with my bp51s, SPCs n BMC I dunno why I couldn’t go this route
The 285/70/17KO2 was just a popular consensus on here but they’ve had their time
I have stock wheels but when I see wheel/tire combo sales on marketplace n what not, it’s tempting to dive in

there are MILLIONS of threads on here bout all this n I’m trying to read it all n don’t have the marbles to start a new thread so kudos OP…but I’m not a auto guy, I’ve learned what I’ve learnt from here, YouTube, etc

so figuring out what I’m capable of having based on my set up while considering all the “specs” like castor, offset, will it clear other components n so on is still beyond me

Well, that means A B C has to happen so that 1 2 3 doesn’t happen

I just need to learn auto mechanics so I don’t feel like such spacecase

Tinkers adventure on youtube will help your understanding of the platform. Car care nut is another good channel I'd recommend. ChrisFix has great tutorials on different types of cars to help your general understanding. Also you could take a intro to automotive technology course at most county colleges.

I think many people get caught up in the details of the build and lose track of what's important. Driving and enjoying the journey!
