2nd Gen auto trans (A340H) fluid temp sensor 89429-35042)

I have questions about the sensor identified in my heading/title. See attached photo. Mr. Google and Toyota online have been of no help. I looked here but apologize in advance if it is to be found on this forum but I failed to locate it before writing this post.

1. Toyota calls this a Sensor, not a Switch. So I assume the sensor creates resistance proportional to the temperature of the fluid it is in contact with. Who has a chart/table/graph of that relationship between temperature and sensor resistance?
2. Is the sensor resistance signal mandatory for the Engine Control Module (ECM) to effectuate changes in the operation of the transmission and/or engine, or merely to throw a MIL overheat light when the fluid meets or exceeds a certain temperature?
3. Has anyone converted this sensor signal data to operate an instrument panel aftermarket gauge? If so, care to share the details?
4. Is there anyplace in this transmission where the fluid gets hotter than the fluid at the existing sensor AND lends itself for tapping in an aftermarket temp gauge?
