    Hello There.
So I've been doing some reading and searching over the past few days about the Westcott Designs lift for the 21 TRDP, and I would really like other user's experience - anyone running his lift on the new TRDP?

Since you just got this truck (assuming), leave it alone. You’re gonna want to upgrade later and won’t be happy with the little fake lift you get with westcott

Thanks for the feedback Jynarik. I'm leaning that way, leave it be, at least to see how it performs stock. Not planning to take it to Moab... If I need more traction I could just swap out the tires to an aggressive AT in 275/70/17. I think that will fit as is, no lift required.

IMO TRD Pro suspension is good at stock height, but if you want to fit bigger tires you can go with something like WCD. On the down side (as far as I heard) it will not give good wheel articulation like a suspension lift.

If you want a lift plus keep better wheel articulation you need longer shocks. So you have to look at a suspension lift kit.

Yes, you make a good point. I think every option Spacer Lift/WCD Perch Lift/Eibach Spring Lift will all limit the articulation because you took away 2" or so of the shock travel to accomplish the needed space to fit the larger tire. Hopefully, a WCD owner will comment eventually on their experience...

    UPDATE -

Just thought of sharing few more points -

    • When you lift your 4R your alignment will also go to not ideal specs. So it is adviceable to go with an adjustable UCA.
    • If you think of after market suspension you can improve the ride quality as well. For example ELKA 2.5DC I got for my TRD ORP are very comfy than TRD Pro Fox suspension. I think suspension like adjustable suspension like King, OME BP-51, Fox 2.5DCS give good ride comfort as well.
    • Most complete suspension kits will come with diff drop kit to correct your cv angle as well.

I wouldn't change out the suspension of the TRD Pro, especially is that is half of the reason you bought it. There are a few people on the "other" T4R forum that are using the WCD lift and no one has said anything negative about them...

That being said, I am waiting on the Eibach springs to lift TRDP, but wouldn't be opposed to the WCD if Eibach doesn't get their products in stock any time soon...

"I would really like other user's experience"

For the most part you have people talking crap:crapstorm: about the Westcott kit and not one of them have any first hand experience/owning or using it. :amen:

If it meets your needs it's a well designed and functioning system that provides body lift without interfering with the OEM designed FOX system. I would say you need to know what your expectations of the kit are, then ask yourself if it meets those expectations.

    Per Wescott Designs:
Westcott Designs preload collar lift kit for Factory Fox TRD PRO equipped, 4Runner, Tacoma, and Tundra. This is NOT a spacer lift, this kit retains your factory ride quality, factory suspension geometry, you can still align it to factory specs and does not effect your suspension travel. After install your truck or SUV will sit level front to rear.

So either they're misinforming the public, or one of your 'facts' is off.

I personally would wait for Eibach springs for 21 Pro to come out
From what I read and understand
WCD uses the lower perch to add a spacer or their lift kit instead of doing it on top hat side same concept the spring still preloaded more

I could be wrong sir if that its not a spacer lift.

    I thought #1 and #3 are spacers.

    • I thought #1 (not spacer thing i guess) pushing the front shocks down which UCA will have a slightly different angle than stock - Which the reason I said an adjustable UCA will give better caster
    • I thought #2 is a spring preload collar which compress the spring to gain height - Which I thought same kind of functionality archived with a longer spring and interesting that is does not change factory ride quality with compressed spring vs factory less compressed spring ride. I thought the force would change with length and we don't change the constant using same spring.
    • I thought when installing #3 (not spacer thing i guess) on rear spring may limit the down travel since factory shock have to extend 1.25 extra since there is nothing to help the shock to gain that.

So I could be wrong. (Though I can't understand how it does not effect)

Since you have a offroad I would just change the suspension. I just did it so that I wouldn't have to buy a new suspension kit. It rides nice, but if I were to start over I would probably not have done it. Since I basically bought it twice and Wescott is a nice guy but charges too much for a this supposedly non spacer kit. Also charges out the ass for shipping which would've been cool to receive free shipping after paying 400+ for a spacer kit.

I'm not saying you're wrong, just that Wescott and you don't seem to agree. Not to say a company won't state things in a way to get people to buy their stuff. I have no dog in this hunt, I personally don't have anything made by WD.

The biggest misconception I hear, though, is how spacers "compress" the spring. The spacer just has the upper mount sit up higher. The only way the spring would compress is if the vehicle is heavier somehow, which a spacer doesn't do. They do extend the shock, though.

TBH I have zero intention of removing those fox shocks! It would be nice to see what the WCD folks think, but alas, those folks seem to be very elusive on this forum…. I have had the Eibach springs in order for months, now it’s into next year. I’m getting tired of waiting.

The only issue is outside of Jeff who owns the company, and randoms at the ‘other’ forum, I can’t get a true owners experience.

When and if they do offer replacement springs(front & rear) it would be nice if they offered an assortment of weight ranges. Not just plunky little changes to give mall crawlers the lift they're looking for.

How much full time weight do you plan on adding to your truck?

The shock extends thus creating body lift. To me it’s more appealing because he considers (theoretically) the lowest of the shock stroke to be greater than the bump stop. Where as on a typical spacer lift you really should add length to your bump stop to compensate or else the shock stroke becomes your limit and that’s not good. Unless of course you just want a look and not function.

Just sliders, and a stealth winch (existing plastic OEM bumper will stay on). Really hardly much weight at all.

My honest answer. If someone made 'springs rated for the load' I have blessed my truck with(heavy), then I'd have done springs. But, they're simply not available for our FOX system, and the rears that are available, are of no use for my truck. It needs SPINACH......not TOFU.

Westcott's lift would allow you to get the highest and best use of the FOX system that came with your truck. imo (since springs don't and may never exist.

    Valid points!
It seems misleading, and how can it ride the same? You compressed the front spring in order to create lift, the shock is outside of its nominal ride height. So the spring has more pressure, and the shock is in a 2” higher position. I don’t know for a fact but I imagine there are different tuning zones through the stroke of the shock - so that maybe a factor on ride too.
Once someone with a WCD lift chimes in I can get these things figured out.

My advice is waiting is a better choice for what you want the best. That is coming from someone who waited about 6 months for ELKA 2.5DCs.

Honestly, you should give Jeff a call. Then, if you're not satisfied with his answers. You have your answer.

    It's that simple.

I don't see people talking about Toytec TRDPRO kit. Here's the link if anyone wants to add this to the list in addition to the famous 2.
