    I have a deposit down on a new 2024 Off-road Premium. I currently have a 2016 Trail Premium.

Does the 2024 OR nosedive on hard braking?

To counter this issue on the 2016, I installed Toytec Boss shocks and they’ve been fine. They are almost seven years old. Still drives and rides great.

Assuming the 2024 shocks are soft like the 2016, any recommendations on replacements. I’d like to do a small front lift to level. One of the local shops recommended front and rear replacements for a better overall feel. I am getting quotes right now.

I have found the KDSS does a good job on mitigating body roll, nose dive. I wouldn't change it.

Neither of my 4Runners have KDSS. I should have mentioned that. Sorry.

The most cost effective way to deal with the nosedive is to replace the shocks. I have a 2021 OR and replaced the OEM shocks with Bilstein 5100’s with the front adjustable shocks set to the .85 lift setting. This firmed up the nosedive and leveled the front.

What do I have to do to get the nose dive? I’m stock, and it has not happened.

2016 & 2024 are the same vehicle. It should handle exactly how your 2016 did.

I dunno. I have 176k on the original 2013 suspension and I'm not bothered by any nosedive. Could be because I don't expect sporty handling from a heavy SUV.

I can't stand the stock suspension on these things. Too soft allowing for a lot of body roll and nose dive under braking.

OP I'd just throw on some bilstein 5100's if you're looking for a budget friendly solution.
This should fix the brake dive issue and also allow some height adjustability.

I did the same, but used Eibach shocks, same setting. Very happy with the results. A little over 4 years with this setup.

You have to press hard on acceleration pedal between traffic lights and hit brakes in emergency-like manner. AND you have to have more sugar in your daily consumption so you will be irritated easily by the smallest things. Sugar is your answer.

That’s hard to do while keeping the green Eco light lit all the time…….

Actually we have technology to avoid nose dives, roll overs etc. For street use only. We have a bobblehead Pug from MIB that has sat on our dashboards since the kids got it in a happy meal in the 1990’s. If he slides, it means mellow out. If he tips over, switch drivers. If he flys off the dash entirely, check for injury’s and call your insurance co. A nose dive would definitely be a “violation”.

This process got us through three teenage drivers back in the day.

I used to have it, but it went away. I guess the 4R trained me to brake even more gradually than I did already. Besides, I'm not in a hurry to need new pads and rotors.

    Reminds me of initial D.

The cup of water was used to show the weight transfer of the car. The goal was always to keep the water in the cup, even during the most aggressive driving.

Oscar is the man. Can't say enough good things about them. Consider Dobinson IMS for a mid priced suspension that's a lot of bang for the buck.

Mine has KDSS but still nosedives more than I would like. I will be upgrading the suspension in the near future.

I am able to anticipate my stops 99.9% of the time so nosedive is not a concern for me.
I like the softness of the stock suspension, but I was raised in the 60/70’s when ride comfort was a thing.

Drive a Tacoma. Then, when you get back in your 4Runner you’ll think you’re faceplanting from the nose dive.

At least that was my experience. The first time I hopped in my 2022 4Runner after coming from two Tacos in a row, I was shocked by the nose dive. Then after that first drive I promptly forgot about it and have never noticed it since. (Although in fairness, I went with such heavy springs on my OME lift I don’t think you could push the nose of this thing down with an M1 Abrams sitting on it….)

If you want to save some money, just put Eibach or Bilstein front shocks on (with your stock coils). Lift if you want (or don't). The rear shocks and coils can remain stock.

Eibachs ride better than Bilsteins IMO.

That will be one of the quotes. Apache will be the other. They did the brakes on my 2016 this past winter.
