    Hi Folks,

I took delivery of a new 2022 SR premium last Monday. Later that day I was showing a friend of mine the truck, and he said let’s check the call assist button. It did not connect. Said “unable to connect”. It reads its active on my app that and Destination assist and dynamic navigation those don’t work either. Yet the WiFi does. After some tome on the phone with Toyota they said to bring it back to the dealer. Did that, they are saying Toyota wants them to replace the DCM, they ordered one and want to put it in next Friday.

I’m just a bit uneasy about anyone taking the dash apart in my truck that has less than 500 miles. I was wondering if anyone knew the location inside the truck and what kind of job it will be.

Here’s the kicker, I would of went the whole year without never touching the button and have no intention of paying for the services once they expire.

    Thank you in advance

Thank you guys. I’m torn. Like I wrote I have no intention of paying for this after it runs out. Have no intentions of using it. It’s just that it’s a new truck so I want what I paid for, and I don’t want to regret having them have to take it apart

I don’t think you need to be in a rush to fix it, but I’d consider doing it before the warranty runs out. That way when the time comes to sell the vehicle you don’t have an asterisk looming over the sale.

Was thinking the same, but OP said the WiFi still works, so likely to still have a connection.

Jim, I've had a portion of the dash apart twice to disconnect and wrap the DCM cellular antennae jacks, and this was at maybe 200 miles. I'm now at 5,000 miles and it has never once squeaked or rattled in the slightest. I don't know what kind of dark magic Toyota integrates into their interiors, but I've got a 2006 Tacoma as my DD (4 cyl made in Japan) and it doesn't have any noises inside the cab either after all these years, which I find pretty amazing.

Eco, thank you for your reply. That is comforting. I’ve been dealing with the service manager since 2015 with my Tacoma that I traded in. Great guy, he has what he refers to as one of his best guys working on it. It’s fear on my part, and I have to do some growing up

DCM doesn't work? That's like hitting the jackpot these days. I wouldn't do a thing.

I know it is a new rig and everything should work. But.... sometimes it could be good to wait a bit and see occurs down the road.

Eco, can I asked why you had to have them wrapped?

If we’re talking about what I think we’re talking about, in the long thread referenced earlier, in an attempt to prevent all unauthorized vehicle communication, one individual unplugged the wires leading from the shark fin antenna to the DCM, at the DCM. But he noticed that when in close physical proximity to a cell phone tower the DCM would still show a signal and send and receive. The supposition that followed was that perhaps the cell signal was jumping the gap between the RJ-45 connectors on the end of the wire and the DCM. Hence, the wrapping of the connectors in some sort of Faraday fabric or film.

Tried it tonight, IT WORKS. I’m going to say it’s because of my instincts . I traded in a 2018limitedthat I had got the app. When I got the new one on Monday I cleared the old one out. I fumbled through the app setting it up on the new truck. On Wednesday a young guy at the dealership canceled those services on the app then reinstalled them. A message came up reading it could take 48 hours. I never saw that message before!

I can’t thank you guys enough for all of your help

seems like disconnecting the antennas and wrapping the dcm entirely (which includes the transceiver) would be best.
