    Hey y’all
New to forum and new to owning a 4Runner. I love it tho. Just got some off road mods done to it. It’s a 2021 TRD. They wouldn’t put the brush guard on bc it interferes with the adaptive cruise control.

I don’t even LIKE the adaptive cruise control and wish I could get rid of it anyway. I just usually override it and use the normal mode most of the time anyway

my concern, though, is that installing the brush guard will keep the whole cruise control system from working at all. Does anyone have experience with this?
    Thanks!!

Im pretty sure regular cruise still works even when the radar is not functioning. Tape a piece of cardboard on the sensor and try it out.

Regular cruise will work regardless, but obviously any systems that depend on the sensor behind the grille will be negatively affected by the obscuring of that sensor.

You aren't going to find a lot of love for brush guards on here. I think most people consider them a purely cosmetic enhancement that serves no actual purpose, and can actually make front end impact damage worse when it folds over under stress and smashes in the entire front end. Depending on the model installed you also get the added benefit of reduced ground clearance! Win-win-win!

Welcome to the forum and 4Runner life.

Would a low-profile bumper work for you?

Thanks so much guys. Thinking mainly about deer collisions. Would that still cause more damage u think?
    Will post some pics soon

    General consensus would be "yes".

Anecdotal story, but we got brush guards on our cruisers after a whole bunch of deer collisions destroyed hoods, grilles, radiators. First deer collision following the installation of brush guards, the deer folded the brush guard over which took out the hood, grill, radiator as before; then the deer slid over the top of the guard which formed a nice little ramp for it, and took out the windshield, A pillars, and ripped the lightbar right off the roof.

    YMMV...

There is a good reason that brush guards are also known as damage multipliers.
