Anyone else have trouble with squeaking…usually over speed bumps or little bumps in the road?

Been trying to figure out the noise for a while as it’s been driving me to the brink of madness lol. Any solution helps if you’ve been dealing with anything similar.

The sound, it sounds like maybe the shocks or suspension are dry? I heard it could be the splash guard inside the wheel well, but I haven’t tried looking yet. Just thought I’d ask and give everything a try at once.

Put a little axle grease on the hood latch. That will probably take care of the noise for a while. If that ends up being your noise, then you can adjust your hood stop-pads by unscrewing them a little bit to put a little more preload on the hood when it latches in.

I had a similar problem and I discovered that it was the hood. I put some grease on the latch and put some silicone dry lube on the rubber stops and no more squeaks.

I just saw a post on this issue. In your wheel well you will see like a fabric (can’t think of a better word) held on with clips. It’s the clips making the noise. Do a search here. I just saw it a couple of days ago. The clips come out a little way and make that squeaky noise. Just push them back in.

Hood and splash guards are two very common fixes. I’ve had to do both. For the splash guards, I just had to buy beefier clips (https://radrubberdesign.com/product/replacement-fasteners/) and replaced some on either side. Problem gone.

I also find I have to grease my rear hatch every few years. That + a few wraps of electrical tape around the latch keep that from squeaking too.

I noticed a squeak on my 4Runner coming from the rear of the vehicle. When I went to take the roof rack off to paint it one of the cross rails was loose as the thumb screw was not tightened down. I snugged it up after reinstalling the painted rack so we’ll see if that solves the squeaking.

Welcome. Don’t forget to check the spare tire. If it’s not snugged down, it will squeak.

I had a similar squeaky sound for awhile, then found an idea on line. I read a comment about the sound originating in the plastic splash guards of the front tire well, shielding the chassis and engine. There are aftermarket parts for replacement. Some owners were successful with changing the fastners. I sprayed my clips with silicon and that fixed it.
