I may be imagining it and i have been blown up a time or two, but does the factory radio adjust volume in relation to RPM's? I can swear that the volume decreases when i stop at a light or stop sign. Not drastically, but enough to question my sanity... More.

Maybe power being pulled from the amp when the brake lights come on? Then getting louder again when they go off.

My 2nd gen Tacoma had this feature. I think it was buried somewhere in the head unit settings. I think the 4Runner has auto volume, too?
