2017 4R prem. Nav system is backwards...

2017 Midnight Blue 4 Runner

or is it operator error? I can't figger out how to get my new2me 4R nav system to stop lying to me. I've gotten it set so north is always up, but when I head east, it sez I'm going west. When going south it sez I'm going north. I've been studying the owner's manual and the Nav and multi media manual and my poor old 70+ brain can't get it. Also, I live in Lancaster, CA but the system thinks it is in Tonopah, NV. How do I tell it where it is now? Are there any tutorials here? And the only map I can get to appear shows me dropping a bread crumb trail of where I just came from, but with no labels or roads. Maybe a Cheshire Cat would help?
